Cerbies booked into austec racing for the 7th February, for a 12000 mile.

Not so long ago I swore that I'd never have my car serviced again. Never mind one last try with Austec and see what happens.

Oil Cooler charged for and not changed, oil filter not changed, sweating from the front oil seal was discussed as needing an engine out when its a known feature of the engine and rarely requires any attention in Cerbs. Ait breather pipes charged for because they were falling apart from the inside, when previous bill for air breather pipes was only one year earlier in the car. Car returned with loose top mount on one of the rear wheels.

Call me fussy but I seriously thought of not having the car serviced at all after that. I think the car would be better off serviced at home anyway.

The only reason I change my mind is the fact that I'm not sure I'm keeping the car and the penalty for that is a big hit on the resale. If I decide to stick with the car I'd prefer to service it myself.

Hi J A-B.

I deal with austec alot on the phone and always find them very helpful and knowledgeable, I'd be surprised if there wasn't a good explanation or simple misunderstanding for this. Have you spoken to them directly about it? .. always a good first move before going public to 25000 people
Paul at asutec is particularly friendly and helpful

I dont think Julian is saying he had it serviced at Austec before, but that he is trying them out following everyone elses glowing reports. (mine included)

Lets hope they can rebuild your faith Julian, as well as your car!

Austec did my last service, the first time I'd used them. I found them to be helpful and realistic (there was a lot of "that'll need doing soonish" and "keep an eye on that" and "that'll wait until next time" )keeping the cost down. They were also very knowledgeable without treating me like an idiot (I'm a design engineer and I hate being patronised!). They also do rolling road as part of the service.
I'll use them again, which is the best thing I can say.

As nick has pointed out we at Austec Racing have not previously serviced Julian’s Cerbera and I am sure when Julian next looks at this forum he will make this clear.

There have been lots of posts recently about poor TVR dealers etc... From my experience and hearsay off others, then independent is the way to go.

I've only ever heard good things about Joospeed, Austec and Topcats. Cheaper, better service, nicer people etc... I don't see any reason to use the official places if you have one of these guys in your corner.

Any others that are universally acclaimed?

AAAARRGRGGGGGHHHHHH. Sorry, just re-read my post. I did not mean to imply that Austec were responsible for my last service. I didn't name them because PT doesn't like it on his site and I don't want to offend PT.

I rarely complain and usually if I have a bad time either resturant, servicing whatever, I don't argue much, just go quietly on my way but don't use them again.

I was going to try to change to Austec because of the many glowing reports they recieve on PH's website.

I hope this puts right my initial post. Many appologies for the confusion.

I'm more than satisfied with the work Austec did for me. They made the car even more rapid than before If you get the chance have them set up the Geometery, then you'll have even less trouble with your local roundabout!

I like a bit of trouble with my local roundabout . Now I know its possible I'm going to have a go on the R1.
Not till the summer though cos I need the warmth for the bike.
Given up in the cob (just too scary), BMW will never make it no matter how hard I try.

P.S. Is a rolling road session standard for Austec servicing??

I think the rolling road is standard, but not for Cerbs, as the rolling road is only an up to 350bhp (so Griffs/Chims are fine)....

Where is this famous roundabout ?

I *think* austec might have just / be thinking about increasing their roller's capability though so you might be in luck julian.

I wish I had my kit for altering the mapping working. Put off the service as long as I could.

Have failed three times to constuct a circuit board, and am now thinking about sending it away to be done.

Still I'll get there eventually.
