Stick with standard pipes with a de-cat !?
There are a set of pipes on ebay (they have been on and off there for weeks).

Jack,

It looks similar to this, http://www.actproducts.co.uk/shop/sj10b42-full-exh... , but the centre section is straight through. It was going to be too loud for me when I decatted it, hence changing to a SP ( still not fitted, poor cerb frown) - only I found out when removing my pipes that the car was 1/2 decatted anyway (one side had no cat in it!) so I think it's probably not quite AS loud as people say, but a shrinking violet it is not. Sorry for being vuague on what it is exactly, but talking to Tim@ACS he thought it likely it was one of his by description & he doesn't label them so it makes it tricky to tell smile

I think with both banks being decatted it would be a couple dB louder or so. I've decided to stick with the SP as I think it will look brill with the 3.5" pipes.

It's very tough to say just how loud it will be fully decatted, but I did drive 3K miles or so as it was and felt it was a fraction too loud on longer trips (due to sensitive ears, I always wear plugs in nightclubs etc..) hence the change. Certainly no-one picked up on the fact it was decatted at any meets I went to, so it's not out-of-this-world-crazy-banaanas loud as some would have you beleive from reading on here.

It did sort of 'hit you in the chest' if you stood behind it though biggrin

Preston is a long way off (although I was in Oulton Park on monday!) - would have to be posted unless you are coming this way? IF you are interested I could take some photos, I'm not really rushing to sell as I may keep them to swap back on the cerb if/when I sell it - as I'd never get the money back on the SP so best to split smile

Cheers,

Stu

A 4.2 with de-cats and sports pipes is VERY loud inside the car at Autobahn speeds.

You'll get sick of it if you use the car regularly.

Standard back box with de-cats will give you a small bit more poke (it gets me approx 10mph extra on the straight in Mondello at track days) and a better sound but you can easily live with it.

I've tried every configuration and found that to be the best balance overall.

But that's just my experience so perhaps you should have your own and not just listen to me. smile

I agree - Standard back box with de-cats gives a great sound and a bit more poke, also the easiest and cheapest option to fit.

It isnt as simple as 'sports and de-cat is too loud'.
My current cerb is sports and de-cat and if anything I think it is too quiet. I havent measured the db.
My last 4.5 was sports, de-cat and cone filters. It was too loud but whoo-hoo it sounded great.
My current cerb is a late one and they are better sound proofed so it might be that.

Stu

Could you send me a few pictures and how much your looking for it please to my email address. jackhull@hotmail.com

Not to sure which way i want to go yet... my sp is really bashed up with one pipe being rewelded at some point in its life... So really want to go for the dual pipes at the back... Dont go on long journey with the car so i could put decats on 2 at a later date..

Cheers

I live approx 10 miles from you, if you want to hear what a standard box and decats sound like you could always pop round. I`ve also a set of spare sports pipes which I have`nt used which I was going to keep but I`d be open to offers.
