trouble with wipers

wipers stopped working, both washer and wiper button. just putting it into the garage so wipers were on and the screen became dry as it went into the garage. when in the garage wipers stopped working.
been out today done about 130 miles and wipers worked fine!
i think the motor is not strong enough to pull the wipers over a dry screen and the motor must cut out to protect itself? do you think this is right or is there anything else to look at?

In my opinion most of the TVRs wipers will not work with a dry windscreen, a squirt of washer fluid usually gets things running smooth.
