Had a crack in the manifold of my 98 4.5 fixed welded last month. Its gone again and I've decided to get a new/used one instead of risking welding again. Has anyone got an old one knocking around that I could buy off them or does anyone have any views on welding the crack again??

If anyone's got a spare one, give it to the people who made the manifolds for that 928-engined 944 (see the V8 944 thread) and ask them what they can do for us. Pure art. Although probably impossible within the confines of the Cerb engine bay as Joolz can testify.

I would hope a weld would last longer than that.
Might be worth talking to the folk that done it, did they say no guarantees on the work?
I need mine done soon aswell but if it is a manifold out job then it might be better to just replace them rather than risk needing them out twice in short time.

If anyones got a manifold they're going to throw away could you let me know. I want something to practice on. If I make a decent job you can have it back as a spare, otherwise you havn't lost anything.

I want to practice with my new oxyacetaline kit.

If I change mine and they aren't easily repairable as spares then you can have them but it won't be till April/May time when the car gets serviced/mot'd
