The one I've got on my Tuscan challenge car is looking a bit knackered. Does anyone have a spare to fit a 4.5 ajp? I'm running with a dry sumped road engine so it should be the same as a road car one... Does anyone know different?

Which of the 6 or so different road car bellhousings I have come across do you need?

There is a lot of variation out there and get the wrong one and it will cause problems with the clutch.
If the bellhousing is ok and everything works, I wouldn't change it.

Hmm... No idea! I have a 4.2 small journal road engine which has been dry sumped and bored out to 4.5 as far as I know (not seen it yet). The bellhousing has a crack in it though and looks pretty tired in general, having been welded at least once before. Any idea if the bellhousing was linked to age or is it just random?

Thanks Mike... Yeah I will be careful with the crank, I think this route was taken as at the time, TVR weren't selling AJP race engines and so they had to develop one from a road engine. As far as I know, the crank is small journal but a proper steel race one. There is some speculation that it may have been played with as well though in which case I may be better off just going for a new block and crank and putting my other set of heads, valve gear and new pistons and rods in. I'll have to wait until its all opened up and examined.

Depending on cost though, I might just sell the lot and put an LS in. Just weighing up options... I'd rather not, but it may just be less of a headache.

Well good point... I have a few possible routes to take with a couple of different engines. LS certainly wouldn't be 'easy' but it may still be an option at the moment along with a couple of others. I'll have to take the AJP apart first and see what I've got as a starting point. I'd still need a lot of parts to run an AJP so the cost is making me consider other options at the moment. We'll see.. It's a while before I need to decide as the rest of the car isn't ready yet!
