Something knocking on my floor

Help,

When i change gear, or let off the accelerator, there is a knock from under the car. It feels / sounds like it is from under the transmission tunnel, and slightly behind me.

Is there anything i can check prior to booking it into a garage and losing my shirt?

I'd check the exhaust first. Check the mountings/rubbers.

I agree as well, but if the exhaust is not knocking, other things to look for are worn gearbox and engine mounts.....

Mine did the same. A little adjustment to the pipes and it stopped making contact.
I did worry for a while!!

I'll have a look at the exhausts tomorrow then.
I had this "oh my god its the diff" feeling!

Mine was doing exactly the same after an engine out episode, had similar fears but it was just the exhaust knocking - there is so little clearance just before the cats that it's a miracle they don't all do it all of the time!

One persuasive crowbar and it was never to be heard again
