A strange one this, and of course open to everyones personal favorite, my rear section is starting to look a little tired so after the winter months I'll be looking to change it, I'm a fan of having a nice looking exhaust as well as a good performing one, I have linked de-cats already and the whirlwind induction kit from Joo.
And ideas or pics? I do quite like the tuscan exhaust look........

Speak to Tim at ACT

Personally, I have the ACT 'Big Bore' 3" system (with replaceable tail section/trackday silencers)

But the SP system (also available via Tim with or without linked de-cats) is a nice piece of kit

Downsides of the SP system are silencing it for strict trackdays (if that is an issue?) and price.

Not a mechanic or specialist but always wondered for track days is it not possible if you had 3" pipes to just have a Cylinder section that fitted exactly inside the 3" pipe held in by small allen keys or such would that not bring it below the noise limit?? Just a silly idea!!!!

Like the look of the SP one, although your right about the price! Haven't done a track day yet, but would like the option in 2010, has anyone fitted the carbon cans off the tuscan before?

There is only one trackday silencer in existence (that I know of) for the SP system, and that belongs to Nickccc. IIRC it was frighteningly expensive as it was a protptype. But it works as you say. I believe there are similar systems that work on the regular 2.5" tailpipes (from Monster TVR?) for Cerbs, Griffs etc.

Matt wanted me to spend £650 on the trackday silencers. Beautifully made items though, they had a false rear exit, the real one directed the noise downwards (away from the marshal with the meter).

Of course the other issue with the SP exhaust is size & weight. In comparison to the ACT systems, the rear box is the size of the original so hangs low and it weighs nearly 40% more, and it costs more.

Ive seen a system on a very loud V8 in the States were the twin pipes coming come down the centre of the car as they bend out like the picture above they then split them into twins each side. They then put a remote flap operated by a button in the car that shuts of on pipe for instance the open type pipe so its nice and loud then when the flap is closed it diverts the exaust down the other two which are silenced. It was very well done and engineered and did not look that dificult. It would mean you would have to have quad exausts but you would have a choice of stealth mode for the neighbours or fully open roar and pops were you wanted them??
