Clouds of steam from the LHS of the engine bay today, coupled with coolant dripping from somewhere underneath. Temperature gauge fluctuating a lot, and engine down to 30psi at idle instead of its normal 40.
Steam seemed to be coming from around the expansion tank, but not out of the cap itself. Removing the cap showed a lower water level than normal, but not bubbling over or anything.
Went away on a trailer
AA bloke reckoned one of the thermostats might be stuck.

I had this on mine. All I needed was a new radiator cap.
The reason my oil pressure dropped slightly was because the tempreture gauge was a bit high.
With any luck yours may be the same.
The cap is from a VW golf VR6 and you can get one off the shelf from halfords for about 3 quid.
