Hello, I am new to Cerbera ownership and so far loving every minute.

I have a couple of things that i would like to get sorted and wondered if i can do the work needed or if i need to take it to someone. Im fully aware a few niggles are all part of owning a Cerbera but wanted to at least try to sort them.

On a couple of recent drives my legs and feet have froze. I have cold air coming into the drivers footwell from the air vent but no hot air vent. How do i change this air vent to hot air for the winter.

I also need to change the wiper park switch. I have a new one but can someone give instructions on how i change this. I hear it can be quite fiddly.

When im driving i have a really annoying electronic buzzing noise behind me almost like the rear windscreen heater is trying to switch on, does anyone know what this is and how to stop it?

Lastly, How do i make my front lights brighter, I have the original lights and wondered if just getting a brighter bulb would help or if i need to do more.

Any Help would be most appreciated.

Buzzing is probably the fuel pump.

Hot air - open the hot air vent on the side of the transmission tunnel and turn the hot air fan on.

Wiper switch, think you have to take the top panel off and bugger about behind the expansion tank

Glad your enjoying it Jord, and welcome aboard.

1. Cold feet : There is a hot air vent located on the transmission tunnel on the driver and passenger sides. Sit in the car and reach down and along the transmission tunnel with your left hand, about level with the leather trim that your elbow rests on. You'll feel a little plastic flap that you push in to open - very sophisticated!.
Also check up into the footwell and make sure all the holes that cables come through are sealed.

2. Park Switch: A bit of a bd to fit, remove the Hot water expansion tank to give access to the wiper motor, you may have to remove the 2 bolts to take out the wiper motor to fit the switch. If you live near Didcot I know a man who can fit it in 5 minutes without removing anything!!

3. Lights: They are the same lights from a 70's BL Mini! Fit a good HID conversion kit, or at least a pair of High spec H4 Bulbs.

Good luck.

Cold feet - as mentioned you have a vent under the dash on the transmission tunnel. I normally have mine shut.
To get hot air flow, turn the fan on by pushing the hot switch in, and wind it fully clockwise. If you want good heat flow to your feet, then shut the top vents

Lights - I've got the Phillips 50% brighter type in my original lights and that's ok (if they were adjusted correctly).

If you are putting beefier bulbs in the headlights - check the wiring to the control box in the boot - it is a common problem that the load carying wire melts the connector. It may be that replacing the connection helps improve the lights.

A good HID kit as pre JensenA's suggestion is the way to go for a real improvement.

Hot vent on the transmission tunnel? Really? Wow I've only had my cerb 4 years but never noticed that. I do have a hot air vent (which nothing comes out of) near my right shin, and just above that a cold air vent (which blasts out even when closed) where my right knee is. Did they change the vents or am I just lacking in observation skills?

confused Now you've started something ... A hot air vent ??

Am I missing something, are there 2 vents on the tunnel or am I just being dim ? A trip into the garage to investage me thinks as soon as I get home ...irked

To be honest, always been a little to pre-occupied when driving to worry about things such as hot / cold air .. clearing the windscreen has been the most I have bothered with regards the fans / vents. Once that is taken care of, I am just hanging on !! hehe

A Picture speaks a thousand words........

Hot air, Push to open. The other vent is above my right knee, part of the cows udder thingy, and is cold air only.

don't worry i've had 2 x 1997, 1 x 1998 and a 2000 cerb and every one has had a slightly different system of vents. i think it what was in stock at the time your car was built wobble

Cold air intake is the hole by the drivers side front indicator.
Bung up the hole and it's much warmer!

Apparently half an old tennis ball fits, but I just used some rags.

That'll make three of us then rolleyes
I knew about the cold air vent by my right knee (how can you miss that lovely icy blast in winter, even when closed!), but I had no idea about a hot vent on the transmission tunnel!!! banghead
Looks like I'll be having my head stuck down the drivers footwell this weekend to investigate!! wink

So, welcome to the club / madhouse / asylum - owning a Cerb is a real experience - hope you enjoy the ride! POST SOME PICTURES!!

Headlights - standard are about as useful as holding bic lighter in front of the car, I went for a HID upgrade on the dipped lights (NOT main, as you need these to come on immediately, wheras the HID takes a couple of seconds to come up to full brightness) and it's made a massive difference - recommended.

Just checked and I don't have a vent there. In my case a picture would be worth one word: carpet. smile

i don't think they all have one, when i was driving back from picking one up i spent the best part of half the journey searching for the vent by my left knee, when i pulled into the services for a coffe fix, i looked under the steering wheel to find there wasn't one

Jeeeezus - he must have hands like a 5 year old or tentacles instead of fingers!
I don't have the biggest hands, but found it impossible without stripping the expansion tank out and loosening the wiper motor off - not difficult, just footery and time consuming...

I know about the one on the transmission tunnel, but what is this vent above your right knee of which you speak? I have had most of the interior out at some point and I dont remember seeing one. Though I do get a permanent cold leg from somewhere!

On the underside of the Drivers side dash, there is a big fibreglass moulding thingy (cows udder) that has large Diam hoses attached to it, and also has the eyeball vent that blows cold air into the footwell. My car is a '99, and also has the vent on the transmission tunnel as shown in the foto.
My previous Cerb, a '97 did not have the cows udder things but did, as far as I can remember, have the vent in the transmission tunnel. All the Cerbs I have seen do have it, thats the only way that hot air gets into the cabin apart from the windscreen vents.
