How is it that just when I get the car behaving (I say that instead of "perfect" because it never is frown ) it goes and lets me know it's the one who makes the rules and not me.

This evening I pulled the car out of the garage and had it left ticking over to warm up when I noticed water on the ground under it.

Back into the garage and over the pit to take off the cover beneath the engine and I discover that the rubber water pipe coming from the bottom of the block has split ..... again.

It happened about 18 months ago as well with the same hose.

Luckily I have a box of old hoses I've colected over the years and a section of one of them fitted perfectly so I'm sorted and running again.

Now I'm wondering is it actually worth the money for the set of silicone water hoses I've heard of on here in the past.

So, what is everyones opinions on these silicone hose sets?

Are they worth getting?

Well I ordered a set yesterday, along with a nice Ali rad so hopefully they will be spot on. From what I've heard they are a superior item.

Where did you get them from?

A new alloy rad is actually something I was thinking of fitting before next summer.

The hoses on mine were in a sad state when I got it. I ordered a set of silicone hoes from ACT and have had no further problems. To be fair if I had replaced them all with new standard hoses I wouldn't have expected problems in 2 years but the silicone ones were great quality.

Can't comment on their performance mate as they've only been on the car a couple of weeks but when i bought that new rad for mine i took the plunge and treated it to a full set of the silicone hoses. Not cheep but probably not cheep for a reason !

ACT items, rad looks superb as do the silicon hoses.
Just got to try and fight the driver side exhaust manifold out tonight then I can concentrate on fitting the above.

I use one of these after my orignal rad bit the dust. No complaints - other than the price.

Thanks.

It seems my repair job last night is holding up fine.

I took it out for an hour tonight and the temperature sat at about 80*C except while in heavy traffic when it rose to just over 100*C before the fans cut it.

I'm happy with the car tonight.
