Is a Cerbera the car for me??
Discussion
I currently run a Honda S2000...but because I have a couple of kids the opportunities for using the car are few and far between. I have a beater car for work.
I am beginning to hanker after a Cerbera as atleast with the two rear seats 'we can all go our for a drive'
My question is this...is the Cerbera reliable enough to server as an occassional weekend car? I am concerned that insufficient use could be bad for the car...but on the other hand I couldn't and wouldn't want to use it as a daily driver sticking it in a multi-story all day
I have run a Testarossa for 10 years and the most that needed was a new clutch, the usual cambelt changes and that was about it, a really reliable motor it has to be said...I'd be doing 2000/3000 a year tops
I've seen one that is interesting but wondered if there would be thing I'd need to check, as in maintenance issues that would have been addressed or should have been

I was following one and the guy booted it...not sure what gear he was in...we were doing 80mph....then he was gone and I mean gone as in half a mile up the road
the acceleration looked awesome...if the running costs are around 1500/2000 a year I could be very tempted...I am going to have a butchers at this motor on my way home
I am local to Mole Valley Motors...does anyone know if they will source a car for you?

Yes! From what you've said about having a Ferrari, I think you'll like the Cerbera. Buy a optimate battery conditioner, so the car's battery doesn't go flat in your garage. Its easier to drive, running costs will be less and at the price you mention, you shouldn't lose too much money in depreciation. Enjoy!
To watch out for - TVR's 1997 rosso paint - has it bleached, does it need a re-spray?

"This guy does it for a living and advertises in the TVRcc Sprint"
not knowing much about the TVR 'Thang', what is the TVRcc Sprint
The Ferrari was surprisingly reliable...everyone says they are unreliable bla bla bla.....I am hoping the talk about TVR is the same...i.e not wholly accurate
In my experience the Ferraris are only unreliable when neglected and things get skipped...is this the case with TVR?

If want a good Cerbera sourced for you then speak to James Agger at www.jamesagger.com
Just bought mine from there!
PS. Best to get a Cerbera made around 1998 or onwards as a lot of stuff was upgraded around this time...

Cerbera's are great for a family. When I sold my first one, I missed having a run out on a Sunday - just for the hell of it. So I had to buy another one. First trip out and the kids fall asleep in the back, despite it having sports exhausts. My laddie is 7 and my daughter is 10 - both fit in fine.

Is there a good specialist in the Surrey/Sussex area that supply and service Cerberas? I assume so?
Gatwick TVR can service, and there are any number of further recommended independant service specialists (APM, Austec, David Batty etc.) - just search the forums for further details.

Sounds (and looks) good. However, it's at a non-specialist garage so I'd want to look at the service history and speak to the TVR dealer who last serviced it to get an idea of the condition of the car.
