Back in a Cerb 6 weeks on
Discussion
So, I've had the car for 6 weeks, with the exception of hitting a deer...
It is utterly fantastic, sure there are a couple of little niggles, the expansion tank has a slight leak which means I need to replace it at some point and I'm sure that if I was going at 100mph then I'd find a little vibration from the rear which I need to address (could be as simple as balancing the wheels but since I'm sure I never go that fast I'd not know!).
The car is a 2000 4.5 with pod lights, big windscreen, tuscan seats etc (I won't say lightweight as I'm sure it is not). It is great, I know the roads are rubbish at the moment but the traction so far is really good, it feels very, very planted, especially when compared to the last cerbera (an early 96 4.2). The power delivery is very linear which means that it does not feel as dramatically fast as the last one, but looking at the speedo I am going a fair bit faster. I suspect that it just has a better quality of fit and finish than the last car.
Our other cars currently are ann RX8 (192bhp) a bmw 335d touring (going soon) the Cerbera is so different, the BMW is an utterly astounding car, shatteringly quick in the real world, practical etc, but the Cerbera has turned me back into someone who loves driving and that, to me is what it's all about. Sure I'll curse the bills and the niggles but thats life.
Also the fact that people actually smile when they see it, small boys really do say 'nice car mister' still. And I can say I have a british car, with a british engine, built by british folks in a british shed, makes me rather proud...
If anyone here is thinking about buying one I'd say a couple of things..
Buy on conditon and history, less so on miles
Expect to chuck a few quid on it when you get it, no matter how good it is there will be things you want to do (like making the lights actually light things!)
Do it! You only live once, and if you don't like it you can always sell...

[/quote] One of the main reasons i bought one was I took my son to see some ferrari's in Dorking doing a drive by - Not one out of about 20 cars went above 2000rpm!!!!!!!!!
We were so disapointed ....so it is now my mission in life to give it 'full beans' for kids when they say nice car mate!!!! Worth every penny!!!!!

As it is compulsory to drive a Cerbera with the drivers window down
one of the side effects of this is you do get to hear boys shout "cor! it's a TVR" - nice that they recognise one! Obviously, what you should never do when hearing positive small boy comments, is to then behave is a small boy fashion, and leave the junction with a blare of revs leaving a number 11. Oh no, not me ....
