Guys I am planning a run out in May from Newcastle to Malaga, and wanted to know if anyone has had any experience of long runs in their car and any special precautions that I should take on a journey of that length. Basicaly is the cerb good for that type of distance. Any feedback of experiences would be appreciated.

I drove to Le Mans last year, that is about a 600 mile round trip. Only problem I experienced was a radiator leak (it was very hot) but I go home no problem.

Last December I drove to Munster in Germany. All in all 1000 miles in a weekend. Car behaved faultlessly. Can't beat cruising a long at over 100. Very comfortable.

Precaution wise other than the obvious (fluid levels and tyre pressures before leaving), get European break down cover, extend your insurance (green card). I'd make sure you have a fair bit of spare oil and check every 500 miles. It may be worth putting in a triangle and keeping a fair wad of spare cash just in case the boys in blue want to keep up international relations.

Good luck

Bulb kits and warning triangles are a legal requirement over France etc. Also loose your Radar detectors etc as these are a big no-no out there.

I've taken the Cerb to France for a family holiday (3 up) and lots of luggage, plus Le Mans there and back.

Check the usual things, get good breakdown cover and then enjoy.

It'll love the continental roads.

Don't forget to take a roll of gaffa tape and a tin of WD40. If it moves and it should't - use gaffa tape. If it doesn't move and it should - use WD40

Whereabouts near Malaga are you going Colin and what route? I did the journey last August in the Griff and it was a fantastic "once in a lifetime" experience... so good I'm thinking of doing the same this June

Email me if you want details of the trip.
