First track day in the Cerb...
Discussion
And it was fantastic! I have had a few issues with it over the last few weeks/months but today it was totally faultless.
Went like stink, stopped very well and provided plenty of oversteer when required!
It currently has Nitrons on but I have not played around with the damper settings. The only issue I had was that when I turned in (constant throttle, steering input fixed) the car would start to settle into the turn but then really work the outside rear wheel hard and almost roll into oversteer.
It made the car difficult to commit to higher entry speed as the outside wheel would always seem to have a lot asked of it.
Has anyone got any suggestions for damper settings on the Nitrons? Is this loading up of the rear end caused by roll at the front?
Any hints/tips/suggestions are welcomed! It has standard ARB's.
Thanks!

I have nitrons and have tried just about every setting over the years. try 8-10 clicks (from soft)on the front and 2 harder on the rear. You will get a fair bit of roll and it will step into oversteer but it is very predictable. b list tyres will make a huge difference to grip if you are on standard tyres at present as well.
If you want it less oversteery try a stiffer front ARB. I have a 1" thick much shorter one which is probably a bit stiff and leads to high speed understeer so try a 1" standard length. That should give a good balance.

sorry my comments are back to front i meant 2 clicks softer on the rear. you will find that you will want different settings for wet and dry days and also for smooth and rough tracks once you get used to it
i got my arb from jools but it was the last one he had. you are probably best trying one of the race teams in the tvr challenge cup-they will know where to get one made
oh and get the car corner weighted first with you in it - and have the geometry done at the same time - topcats do mine and it is properly quick through the twisty bits

Very interesting comments on your handling findings as I have fairly recently bought a Cerb with Nitrons fitted and all was set more with comfort in mind by the previous owner. I seem to have a very exagerated version of what you say is happening on faster corners and a tuck under kind of experience from the rear loaded wheeel on applying power on the way out of corners. The back end feels like it will do something uncontrollable rather than predicted. I have experimented with tyre pressures but not damper settings to no effect.
Chuffed to bits with car but this did suprise me somewhat.
Sounds a cracking day, shall have to sort mine and have a go myself.

I have 245 Toyo T1R's on Spiders at the rear at the moment, will be changing to some SP12's in the near future.
It is pretty disconcerting when the car really seems to work the outside loaded tyre, certainly tames your entry speed!
I'll have a look around from a front ARB as I think this will help a lot, I'll also take a look at stiffening up the front dampers a few clicks as well (as per the suggestions).
Thanks again chaps, I have fallen in love with this car again!

Thanks for the advice thanks Nic, much appreciated!
I have spoken to Matt (he was at the track day) and I will get a set of SP12's in anthracite shortly
I'd love to catch up when its a bit drier, where about's are you?
Thanks for the heads up on Mardi Gras, I'll give them a bell, after the track day I think that my alignment is out so needs doing ASAP. I'll try get it done whilst I get the SP12's fitted.
Have you got a different front ARB on yours?
Cheers,
Baz

Enjoyed that 8:17 as much as I did when saw it for the first time
But I suspect that the Brutes monster performance has a wee bit more to it than just the tyres

You're making everything else look like it's standing still

I'd love to know your setup and also what you mean by £60 slicks?
Car looks absolutely awesome

Nitrons all round, the brakes are also crushing with big discs and Carbone Lorraine pads

888's are on the front, about 1.5 degrees camber on the front, bit of toe in on the rear, and same camber on the back.

I love it, all those Porsche guys must've thought 'what the feck' as you made them look like they were driving miss daisy!
It's nice to see your car is an all rounder rather than just a monster straight liner
.Duncan
60 quids worth of second hand ex touring car slicks, LETHAL at first, like REALLY Lethal, but after the crust was broken through they were ace!
