thread already running on TVR general gassing.
It has generated a few threads over the years. It was done by a TVR specialist (if I remember correctly). I think they saw it a potential money spinner.

For the same reason that people drop an LS engine in, to get rid of the "Temperamental TVR Engine" rolleyes

What that needs is someone who just happens to be restoring an AJP but doesn't have a car for it to go in. If the car goes for silly money because of the engine, it could be worth a punt to get it back to an AJP.

I wonder if they messed with the frame to get that engine in?

IIRC, yes.
I would have thought it went in very easily, the cerb chassis in the engine bay is 2" wider than the griff/chim chassis.
