Installed a battery cutoff switch to prevent the battery draining during storage and, to my surprise it didn't work, the battery was still flat after a copule of weeks. Finally decided to replace the battery itself and what a difference it has made to the whole car.

Although the old battery would start the car when charged it was clearly causing other problems. The most noticable is that the wipers are working properly again.

I was just about to refurb the wiper assembly because the blades were stalling. Now the blades are pulling like a train, nothing can stop them.

I wonder how many wiper motors have been replaced when the real problem was the battery?

He has a point. I changed a battery when I got my cerb eletrical power was obviously good but it was the alternator that was the problem simpley not good enough, the new battery will soon get hammered. A new alternator sorted it.

Check your alternator too
