Been doing some chassis work over past month, during which time the battery had gone completley flat, so gave it a good charge, and tried to start it.
A) does not want to start, although once started its fine, and will restart easily
B) Cooling fans come on imediatley. I know the fans are controlled by the ECU, (which is an Emerald unit), do I just need to re set something?
C) Are the two problems linked?
Thanks

ETA, dont know why this has come up with a 18 icon

Maybe you knocked the coolant sensor wire off during your chassis work. If it's earthing out or floating free (not sure which would cause it) the ecu might be thinking the temp is high, hence fans on and cold start problem..?

Where would I find the coolant sensor wire?

It may transpire that once you get it started and a bit of charge into the battery, the cooling fan problem will sort itself the next time you start it after that. Don't ask my why but it can...

If it doesn't, the sensor is on the top of the steel cooling pipe that goes left to right across in front of the engine, under the panel. it's on the nearside just under the rear edge of the panel, but unless you have tiny hands, you'll have to take the panel off to reach it. it defaults to "on" I think, so if a wire has come loose, or the sensor is faulty, the fans will stay on.

Traced the wire back from the sensor, can not see anything disturbed or loose. I will put it back on charge, and bring the Chimaera battery in tommorow, which is virtually new, and try again.

I had the same problem on mine. The connectors to the fan are in a very exposed location, I disconnected both fan conectors - they were full of ste and corroded - cleaned them up and the problem was solved.

Clean the connectors to the fans Greeny - trace back 6-12" from the fan motors and you'll find the 2 connectors

Download your map from the ECU and check what temperature they're set to come on at....
