no figures yet, just wondering who's around these days to do the remap and as i'm fitting short induction pipes.

from memory it was Austec and Jools, are they both in action still, and are there more out there?

Cheers
Deano

Anyone know why Jules gave up his indie outfit. It seems such a shame that he didn't keep going.

That can't be true, he was forever being asked to do services etc. I thought he used to turn down routine services as he was so busy.

I wonder if he just didn't charge the going rate. High turnover, low profit margin, and the inevitable heading toward an early grave.

I don't know why Joolz closed - afaik in the end he didnt have enough of the work he liked so as to pay the bills.

He is at Raceproved and is mapping cars there. My Cerb went on the Rollers there as a birthday present from Raceproved back in November. Joolz did the dyno tests etc....

Raceproved are not far from me, they are a great outfit. I would recommend a journey up to see them. And if people are up then a cerb natter etc is always on the cards with the local pack !

Just to say I had mine done at Austec and been very happy with it.

Also kept the long induction for better low down response.

You pay your money you take your pick, I decided it was worth a trip all the way to Chesterfield to have my car mapped, yes Austec were closer, I know they've got a lot of RV8 experience but even then it seemed that Mark Adams was doing most of the 'live' mapping, so dubious about AJP MBE experience. Jools offered an excellent service, good value and the car was ready before expected, sadly none of which I could say about Austec - sorry.

But as I've said it's your choice. Everyone's experiences are different.biggrin

I must have been one of the last to use Jools at his old premises.

I drove all the way, left the car there and took a 3 hour train ride home, then repeated next weekend to collect the car.

Needless to say, I was very happy with the results (and price).

Yep yep, the mighty Cerb is there now and we've used them for a while as Joolz was changing his business last year. For those that are speculating that Joo shut up shop due to a lack of business, im afraid this just isnt the case... I believe it was a decision based on his happiness. smile Last time I had the pleasure of speaking with Joo (far too long ago, I've not been up to RP, dad has though - and says Joo seems happier there) - it was apparent that Joo had been a little under the weather with alot of things.

As anyone who knows him will testify, he is not one to take things lightly, such is the care and consideration he puts into all aspects of his life. I believe his Mums poor health, followed by a general decline in interest for what he was doing meant that he decided to take a break. I think quite alot of the business he had coming in was simply no longer interesting to him, I know he tried for quite some time to do away with the mundane servicing stuff/ other tedious things in order to concentrate on things that really interested him. From what I can work out, he has now done away with the stresses of running his (successful) business, found a group of people he is happy working with and from all accounts it is re-igniting his passion/interest in TVRs/Sports cars generally. When you've been working on your own for say 7years plus (?!) it must be nice to be working with a group of like minded people and I hope that the change has led for a change for the better/ a happier Joo. thumbup

Just wish he was back on here more! Hopefully I'll catch up with him soon. smile
