Not wishing to be a naysayer, but isn't £90-99 a bit pricey?

Going rate for a basic hi-lo kits these days is £25-30, I think.
Are these special-super-dooper in some way?

you might want to state what wattage these are, there's a few more now coming up with different specs.

you get various ballasts now, the latest ones are digital, and whether the set up needs to be for a relector or projector, those with H7 bulbs, the smaller 90mm hella lights, will see a lens in the dipped and none in the main.

I have had a set of these fitted for 18 months. They are top quality and still less than your group buy price I am afraid. http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/hid-conversion-kits-5...

They are also available in 4300K colour temperature that looks a little less blue and is closer to the colour original lights, just much brighter and without the glare for oncoming cars.

Can a total numpty fit these? Is there any trimming or bodging required to get them to fit?

I don't know, I didn't have a numpty handy when I fitted them biggrin However I neither needed to trim or bodge anything to fit them.

I compared the HIDs sold for silly prices with the one's on ebay when I bought mine over three years ago and they're all exactly the same. TVRs don't need anything special because there aren't any fancy electronics to upset unlike BMWs or VWs just buy from ebay.

I bought mine from Hong kong and they arrived within the week.
These days sets go for £1.00 (buy it now) + £29.99 postage..... don't pay more. Click here for an example

BTW - that link is for a single bulb kit, rather than a Bi-Xenon one.

Sorry another one here who was hoping for slightly keener pricing for a group buy. Can get a Hi/Lo H4 set for £70 delivered so will probably go down that route.

OK here's a link for Bi-Xenon ones..... a little more expensive at £1.99 + £42.99 postage. But still much cheaper than what's being quoted and the same thing. CLICKY

I don't understand this desire to spend double for the same thing......

Hello, Can anyone advise on how effective these bulb sliding bi-xenon kits are, IE how fast does the bulb move from dip to high position, and do they give out as much light in high position compared to a twin filamented HID bulb set? Regards

Extremely effective! Dip to high switching is not perceptibly different to traditional filament bulbs. I haven't done a side by side comparison with a twin burner HID set, but on high beam there is massively more light than the very best incandescent bulbs.

So, is the set below a mechanical dip?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/50W-BIXENON-HID-KIT-H4-HB2-H...

Also, as I already have HID on my (seperate Tuscan style) dip can I just run the two dips? Are the Tuscan lights H4?

Yes - the BI-Xenons are a solenoid operated mechanichal dip. Running 2 HID Dips is a bit excessive for oncomming road users, and you'll have to wire in a feed for the Dip beam if the other light is a pure main beam one - Just get the Single HID Main beam only kit.

OK, will it light up quick enough though when I flick from between separate low and high beams?

It takes 15 sec or so for any HID to come up to full brightness when it is first switched on.

If I change my tuscan style lights to HID (the top and bottom lights) what can I get to make the tiny light between the two main lights match the same temperature as the Main lights??. I'm thinking it will look a bit odd with the 2 main lights being HIDs and the tiny light still the same dull yellow colour as it is at the moment. Is there an LED bulb people are using?? If I do this I would like all three bulbs to look the same and not have the tiny light the odd one out.

If anyone has changed this one I would really appreciate a link to the retailer or any advice about how to go about it.

Regards
George
