Hi all,
could anyone clarify how NCD works with regard to limited mileage specialist insurance?
It's been 14 years since I have insured a 'classic' and back then if you had an agreed mileage (3000 eg) then NCD wasn't required, just the satisfying of criteria.

Be warned that most insurance companies will only count NCD if it is from a policy that expired up to two years ago. I built up five years NCD, then lost the lot by only riding bikes for three years.... Car insurance was suddenly very expensive again!

I've got limited mileage policy but not on classic insurance, I had to transfer the NCD from my everyday car and start a fresh on that one.....worked out cheaper on the cerb that way!

I think the question is slightly different. It isn't a limited policy issue but a classic policy issue. AFAIK no classic policy attracts NCD or earns it (they're far cheaper so it's not so important). As posted above a break in continuous policies hit me when using a company policy for 3 years, lost about 10 years NCD as I never thought to ask the question.

Yes, that's what I was told by insurers, but I've insured 2 at about 7 years.

They call them future classics or similar smile

I've had under 10 year old cars with Classic Line of Hinckley and Hagerty. Each were / are good to do business with.

My cerbie is will be 10 years old later this year. IMO (and different insurers suit different circumstances) I'd try Hagerty, then Classic Line, A1, AON then others.

I checked my premium, £615, agreed value, low excess, cerbie 4.5 with some mods (agreed with Hagerty unllike some posts I've seen that say they don't), V8S, 350i. I had a 9k fire in a cerb 3 years back and it destroyed itself later that year, no convictions (don't think 3 points make much difference nowadays though), pretty safe area.
