Hi chaps, I jumped the car this morning (after 25 mins of trying) after 9 weeks of it sitting idle - snow, work, general busyness – apologies in advance.

The doors won’t lock.

On jumping, the car would lock/unlock (via the fob) but as the battery was being powered the central locking button went from normal to flashing and the car won’t start without the immobiliser key being used – I’ve never used it in the past.

For info, the battery is less than 18 months old and the infamous ‘Big Fuse’ has been replaced with a more robust item in the past 9 months.

The alarm system is <12months old (care of CB) so that’s not an ‘aged’ part.

I took her for a 1 ½ hour drive and all was well, stopped for fuel, door windows working as they should on open/close, started on the button.

Just cannot lock the beast, any thoughts?

Thanks as always,
Donny

- I have a feeling this issue will be one of those where she fixes herself, just telling me in no uncertain terms that 9 weeks of neglect is unaceptable curse

ETA: anyone see her in Sprint this month? smile

There could possibly be dampness in the control box after it being sitting idle for so long.

Probably worth checking it.

i suggest you diconnect and reconnect battery, or fit a new one if knackered. (and avoiding bump starts.smile)
apparently the system needs a kick up the arse from a charged battery.

I would go for either:-

a) Jump starting has damaged something (eg immobiliser or a control box)
or
b) battery is still down on power and therefore doing strange things. Give it a proper charge?
