Main Beam Adjustment - new style headlights
Discussion
So for some great reason my Main Beam have decided to light up any passing jets instead of the road in front, which is nice...
so how on earth do you adjust them? they are the new style and its the top pair if you get me
is it a case of wheels off, inside inspect hatch and then take it from there? has anyone done this?

Yes it's wheels off and open up inspection hatch at the front of the inside wheel arch , do the top one as there will be one hatch at the top and one at the bottom. I'm pretty sure you adjust it using the long screws on the back of the headlights.
Have a look at this picture here it will show you what to expect when you take the cover off.

This is an absolute dog of a job.
I had the use of a friends headlight adjustment set-up and it still took me hours.
I took off all 4 wheels and supported the car on 4 sturdy blocks of wook cut to the right height (with a couple of jacks left in place as back-up ..... ust in case).
Think about it, if you jack up the car to remove the front wheels you will also move the rear suspansion to a position different to it's normal driving position.
When you drop the car back down on the jack, with the front wheels off, the back of the car will still be a wee bit out of position (normally once you drive a few feet it settles back but this obviously isn't possible to do).
Measure the distance from the chassis rails to the ground, cut four blocks of wood to suit, and do it that way.
Mne is perfect now.
Slow but worth it.

You turn the screw bolts, as George said, to adjust them, but if one is suddenly pointing at a jaunty angle then you might find that the plastic locator that the bolts go through has rotated allowing the light to come out of it's fixing - if this is the case the lamp will be loose and flopping around a bit. To fix, rotate the grey plastic collar so that it locks back into position. They can be tricky to get at, though. It's common for the plastic collars to rotate and come out when you're turning the adjuster screws and if not located properly can come out when you go over a bump.
