Electric window sluggish
Discussion
Hi Guys,
Since I am going to be doing a bit of work on my drivers door opeing problem soon, I thought I would look at my rather sluggish electric window at the same time. Is this usually a sign of a new motor needed? Or is it just built up crud / lubricarion needed?
Anybody know where to source a window motor? I guess it's from some other manufacturers parts bin. Has anyone fixed the same thing successfully?
Any info or just messages of support gratefully accepted!

Gummi Pflege Stift worked absolute wonders on this problem for me. Having tried all the usual lubricants - this was vastly better and much longer lasting.

i also experience a slow window, I was looking at improving the wiring, larger gauge perhaps, the Cerbera wiring is not the greatest.
Skoff, would you be able to post some pictures, i have a need to replace the felt runners on doors, well its not there at the moment, and want to see some other set ups.
Cheers

Will do. Going to try to sort it this weekend if the jar of snot arrives in time and if my 3 year old will allow me an hour's peace... That 'Gummi Pflege' (German for Rubber Care) is basically the same stuff that Meguars produce, Rubber COnditioner #40. You can buy it, and similar stuff from Halfords - Trim Care/Rubber Care/Rubber Detailing Cream etc etc. A cream with a high Silicone content.

you just need to replace the felt type runners at each end of the glass. i think you can get it from tvr carparts if i remeber correctly. i think you buy it by the mtr. i tried all types of spray with either little or no improvement, changing the the felt was the best result.
hope this helps russ.

I managed to get some time to work on the Cerb this weekend and had a measure of success. I took the door card off, took the glass out then lubed everything up with the stuff recommended by Tanguero (thanks again!) which was delivered next day via Royal Mail, I did the oily bits with some 3 in 1. It has made a noticable difference, it's still not super fast, but bearable. If it gets worse again I will replace the felts as per T8rus suggestion, and check the voltages as per Jammy Basturd - cheers guys... There was quite a bit of gunge in the mechanism, so I am fairly sure that's what the main problem was.
Here are some pics of the mechanism for Dean Ratpac:

I hope this shows what you need to see.
Now, on to the door opening problem. I managed to sort this one 100% so I am quite pleased with myself. It's a bit of a PITA job as it involves taking the seat belt mounting off and a load of trim next to the back seat, but once you have the interior trim off, it's a pretty easy thing to sort.
The problem was thet the solenoid thing that pulls the latch to open the door wasn't pulling far enough. There's an adjuster nut that must work lose with time and use, I just tightened it up and it worked a treat. Here's a bad picture of the thing, the arrow points to the nut that needs tightening:

Quick questions
My drivers window is rather very slow and having given it a silicon spray as best I can without disassembly I think new felt may be a good option.

but I'm slightly suspicious due to the lack of information like current capability.

- 1 to save me taking it apart, measuring and then ordering, can anyone tell me how many meters I need for both windows.
- 2 Also assuming rubbish connectors, does anyone have any recommendations? I found e.g.
but I'm slightly suspicious due to the lack of information like current capability.
I have the AMP connectors all ready to be installed on mine to replace all of the door connectors as the original ones get water into them and corrode (as I'm sure you've worked out)
I wouldn't think current rating is a problem with these, as the pins are thicker than the wires they are joining and at most we have 12V going through here at relatively low current (no fuse is higher than 20Amps on the car) but am happy for someone to wade in with a few equations if needed
On the amount of window felt you need - just mail Racetech - they'll know

Window winder is off Taxi's and Porsche/Maserati of the same period also, I am just fitting new felts in my runners and the one i have done so far is flying up now.
I am waiting for the courier to drop off some door seals as there are two different types, one with a Double bubble air gap, and the earlier single bubble type, which the TVR specialists say you cant get, but i may have found something that will do it.
The window motor has two grommets at the top, you can prise those off and get a squirt of WD in, that seems to get it going a bit quicker too.
