What kind of paint will I need to paint the brake calipers?

I want to do them in a dark red colour with the wording in silver to match the car...

I painted the Calipers on TVRSLAG's car about 2 months ago. I was using Silver Caliper paint from Halfwits. Its about 25quid for a small tin.

I removed the Caliper from the hub, took the pads out and gave it a really good wash on warm water and 'Fairy Liquid'. Painted it and refitted. I also had the AP Racing wording showing in bare alloy. It looks good with the contasting silvers.

Hope this helps

Painted my Cerb's a few months back. Just got the red Foliatech caliper lacquer lacquer set that you can buy in Halfords. Ordered it online from here, though, as I couldn't get near a Halfords at the time:

<a href="http://www.demon-tweeks.com/catalogue/product_detail.asp?PCODE=FOL2160&GRP=RP016&PGRP=R001&CLS=ROAD&code=FOL216&from=search">www.demon-tweeks.com/catalogue/product_detail.asp?PCODE=FOL2160&GRP=RP016&PGRP=R001&CLS=ROAD&code=FOL216&from=search</a>

It might be a bit bright for you, but after a couple of hours of spirited driving, they'll be dark & mucky anyway. They do red, silver, and plenty of other colours, so you could just get two kits. Personally, after experiencing the pain of painting them all once, I'd advise against doing the lettering differently... It took an entire weekend to get all four calipers done as it was. Might be because I wanted them REALLY bright red, though.

I did mine with Hamerite smooth and had no trouble in 3 years, there are quite a few colors to have a go at and it is VERY cheap and easy to put on and quick drying. Good luck

Did the same with Hammerite black and silver for the TVR logo. Had no problems with falking etc. Hammerite is fairly tough and heat resistant.

I do mine with Zebrite (the stuff your granny used to clean the grate with). It is designed for High temperatures, is easy to use, and buffs up a treat, in between coatings.
