My battery is toast in my Cerbera! Tried halfords for the old 0072 and they had none! anyone tried to mod the new ones? or have a link to a sub £100 battery?

Try these Guys - But measure your one first, it's the height that is critical on our batteries. If you have the physical dimension they should be able to sort one out. The one listed for the Cerbera has the Terminals the wrong way round.

Height inc terminals < 200mm is the measurement iirc.

I need a new battery too, mine is fooked after 16 month. Which battery is recommended? Optima red top? will it save me in long run? Dont want to buy one if its only going to last same time as cheapy stty one. If however, it does last longer I would get one.

Odd but good suggestion coming. Give Honda a call. I just changed the battery in my trusty diesel (which is the 0072 type IRC) and they charged about £45. All part of Honda Happiness. Apparently all the 3rd party suppliers are really cheesed off because they can't compete. I think the reason Honda are doing it is that they have a lot of Honda trade-ins and knowing that the car they are taking in has Honda parts that allow them to sell it as an approved used car is worth a lot to them. It also allows them to keep in touch with owners and pick up other work. Anyhow, give em a call and if necessary tell em you have a Civic 2.2 diesel. Could save you a few bob.

Don't know, sorry. All I do know is it is fecking heavy and a total b'stard to fit in the snow with freezing cold hands.

If it fits, it must be the right size

I've just measured a type 072.

Length: 205mm
Width: 175mm
Height: 205mm.

The height of the battery 'compartment' is 210mm, so you have 5mm leeway max.

If it fits, it must be the right size

I've just measured a type 072.

Length: 205mm
Width: 175mm
Height: 205mm.

The height of the battery 'compartment' is 210mm, so you have 5mm leeway max.

It fits the Civic, not the Griff. Worth a phone call to find out though.

Al, the 205mm is the measurement of the height to the top of the Terminals.

Advanced battery supplies do Varta, Exide, Optima etc etc.

The battery I bought for mine when the old 072 gave up is a 069 made by exide. It cost 60 quid from eurocarparts. You just have to make sure the dimensions are ok (take a tapemeasure) and it has 70aH or more, about 570 cold crank and the terminals are the right size/way round. Optima red top batteries are good and much more resiliant to being deep cycled. I believe a couple of people have fitted 089's as well. Hope this helps.

I know the terminals are the wrong way round but considering my car wont jump without connecting to both terminals on the battery this battery looks as good as any and had 5 year guarantee http://www.advancedbatterysupplies.co.uk/carbatter...

A type 069, and the Type 089 both have terminal height of 220mm, so they won't fit - unless some Cerbs have a taller gap where the battery fits into the wing?
I've just mmeasured 2 Cerbs, and the height is 210mm.

I've spoken to Wayne at Advanced Battery Supplies, and the only battery that seems to fit is a Type 096R - 278x175x190 (LxWxH) and this will only fit if you remove the clamping bracket in the battery bay, as the 096R is 25mm longer than the original 072 !!!

You can actually put a taller battery in but it pushes the scuttle panel out and twists it like mine is.

After my local motor factors and Halfrauds failed to find one, my local agricultural supplier got me an 072 the next morning.

Great, I was going to ask if anyone had tried a 096R as it seemed like a snug fit by my tape measure. I'll give it a go now as mine is not charging well in the cold weather.
