So I was driving the Cerb last weekend and I heard a loud bang from the front of the car and felt something (a bolt or similar) hit the underside.

Had a chance to lift it in the air this weekend and take a look and found that both engine mount bolts are no longer attached!

That would explain the noise I got when turning right! I guess this must have been from when the engine out having the oil/water/ps crank replaced.

Anyone had this happen before? I guess the bolts are easily available, anyone know the size?

Cheers!

M10's (17mm spanner) Not sure of the length - 75mm? Width of chassis rail + 15mm? smile

I had mine out today actually - lifting the engine a few mill as the new manifolds were ttting the chassis rails when I accelerated smile

I'd not say they were 75mm <gets out ruler>,50mm total length is nearer the mark I think at a guesstimate.

Which side of the engine dropped down? Where the drivers side support arm reaches accross the chassis on mine, there is a hose of somesort, maybe offside brake. Make sure you haven't crushed that.....

Errrrrr, both sides have no bolts in them! I guess I must have been running with one missing for a while, when the other one fell out last weekend I could hear the manifolds rubbing on the chassis on right corners so I took it easy and went home.

The holes are still lined up, just needs to have the new bolts putting back in so fingers crossed they will both just fit straight back in!

assuming the 4.5 has a similar engine mounting system to the 4.2 - I can't work out how on earth the bolts are still lined up in their holes?

On mine, if I took the bolts out, the engine would drop 2-3cm and the mounting plates that bolt to the front of the engine would sit on the chassis crossmembers (+crush that pipe). Are we talking about the same things, the 10cmx5cmx10cm odd werid angle shaped things, that bolt onto the chassis rails and the engine mounting rubber?

Yes, that's what I am talking about, angled brackets that the rubber engine mounts bolt too. I have no idea if its at the right angle or not, i'll soon find out when I pick up the new bolts!

Any suggestions on where to get them from?

Am I right in thinking that only the drivers side has a bolt into the chassis mounting plate anyway?

As far as I could see today (its a nightmare to get underneath with it being so low!) the rubber engine mounts are tapped for bolts on both sides

The rubber engine mount has a threaded rod on one side that screws into the engine mounting plate bolted to the front of the cam chest.
The other side is threaded to take a bolt. I'm almost certain they are 12mm about 25mm length with 2 very large flat washers.

The angle of the rubbers is determined by the engine mounting plates they are screwed into.

The Engine mounting Brackets are big Trangular brackets. The flat face bolts to the front of the engine. The other end has the Rubber engine mount that bolts into a cradle that rests on the chassis rails. This cradle has 2 bolts going through the chassis rail, it has elongated holes allowing for a bit of adjustment fore and aft. If there are no bolts in this cradle then the engine can move forwards and backwards by about 1/2".

PS - Just finished watching 'Apocolypta' - Cracking film!
