You may remember looking at a set of 17s I had for sale a while ago. They are sold now but I had a set refurbished shortly after meeting you and the finish was better than new! One of them had quite a chunk missing from the rim but this was still repairable without compromising the rims strength.

Could be a far easier option, just make sure you get them done by a reputable place.
