My Cerb has the original headlights and i'm scared to drive it at night, when driving down an unlit road I can barely see where i'm going, if a car is coming the other way its so bad I have to just hold on and hope there's nothing in the road or a bend coming up. Can anything be done with the original setup? The reflectors seem ok, just the amount of light being projected is like strapping two candles to the front of the car. I'm guessing a HID kit is the only way forward.

I know the feeling! Some Cerb's seem to have better lights than others, you must have one of the unlucky ones.
There are 2 ways to improve it.
1. Put a relay in the engine compartment and wire the lights/relay directly to the battery, and fit some decent H4 bulbs and see if that improves it.
2. Get an HID Kit

A good HID kit makes a massive improvement. I went for expensive the HIDS4U kit, and they are amazing. Others seem happy with cheap Ebay kits.

when i first got mine i thought the same.
Iv now got the 90% brighter bulbs (Halfrauds)
Then did really on the nearside light straight to battery
Then found only had 4.5v at headlight.
Took the box from the boot apart and re soldered PCB then cleaned and tightened the plug.
20x better than they where... Still no bmw/merc bright but can at least drive at night now..

I bought a cheap HID kit and its great. The HIDS4U kit is also a cheap kit but with marketing costs and larger margins IMHO. There is nothing to these HID kits and that is why they are cheap.
I paid £38 for mine - but mine are the tuscan style....

You need bi xenon 35w 6000K H4

2 hrs max to fit and suddenly you can see.

i'de like to add only if its sunny as my wipers only work when they feel like it, sometimes there ok other times you press the button wipers move then stop and you have to get out and give them a nudge.
