Clutch fingers went over 4 weeks ago, apparently still awaiting slave cylinder to complete upgrade..
Seems to be a part shortage, anybody else in same boat ??

My clutch went two weeks ago in my car a 1998 4.5 (old clutch) Parts took 3 days to arrive and job took two days so only lost it for 5 days. It had to have new flywheel, clutch and slave cylinder.

Why so long for yours.............?

It does seem a long time for a slave cylinder.

Thanks for that
Would not have been so bad but car was in for 3 weeks for 12k service (came out nearly new ££££ ). This was two weeks before clutch went. I need some grin factor back !!!

You might need to consider a new garage.

I had a 10 week stint last year and in the end I was going mad and I had the car low-loadered to a different garage and it was fixed and back within two days.

Update....
Now 7 weeks since clutch failed .. thats 7 weeks of two wheels / cadging lifts / borrowing wifes car and courtesy car lending.
Part still in question for rebuild is the slave cylinder, anybody have one off the shelf ? or a set of drawings to have manufactured. Better still if TVR outsource these where are they from ????
Good weather is around the corner.

Sounds like the are taking the p i s s. When mine went i had the car back after two days for rebuilding the cylinder with new seals or it would have been three days if it was scored and needed a new cylinder. The part was coming from the factory.

Is it worth phoning round dealers/indies to see if anyone has the parts?

Car is in with an indie and they are incontact with Blackpool every other day for this part, apparently TVR are not releasing part due to production demand.
Other indies and dealers are in same boat, hopefully once free stock becomes available they will service on a dated outstanding order basis.

It does sound to me that they are taling the wee wee. Phone round dealers and indies to see for yourself. If they tell you the same, then fair enough, if they can get you one,and theres no problem, then change indie.

3 weeks and waiting....

Got most things now but apparently the bell housing still hasn't materialised.

Could've bought a nice little runabout for the money I've spent on car hire.

I had my slave cylinder rebuilt at Topcats a few weeks ago without any problems. It only needed new seals though.

All these clutches going belly up at once...what's the deal?
Any other manufacturer would be organising a recall.

Rang TVR direct to their parts department. They have NO stock and don't even have parts for production.
What a situation to find Looks like they need a lesson in procurement.
In their favour they have offered a number of another indie who they say has the parts I am after, may be light at end off tunnel yet....

( Homer mode on )
MMMmmmmm tunnel......... no Cats
( Homer mode off )

How does that sound again been too long.

That's truly rotten, that is. You have my every sympathy, for what its worth.

Apart from my 10 week stint that forced the garage change I had two previous 5 weekers and was almost conditioned to this being the norm. Trouble is, it eats away at you - you don't want to keep phoning for fear of being branded a pest, but you can't just leave it because they might be doing nothing about it as the weeks roll by. I missed most of a summer of seemingly endless blue skies and got it back just in time for the gloom and rain of Autumn.

Topcats deal with mine now and its always in and out in a few days. I'd contact them and see what they reckon - one low-loader journey later and you'll probably be sorted out and back in the saddle in no time. Its got to be worth a go...

10 weeks? wait till you need a rebuild!, or cams, or a jackshaft bearing, talk about piss you off.
If there's one thing that will eventually drive me away from TVR, its the haphazard approach to parts supply. I am prepared to put up with the less than stunning build quality & niggles, but when it does go wrong it needs to be fixed sharpish.
with my old E30 M3 (not exactly millions made) you could walk into any dealer & order ANY part & it would be waiting for you 2 days later - as it bloody should be.
Tvr don't seem to realise that when us Tvr owners want to upgrade to a newer motor we sholuld be the ideal prospects to be sold a T350, tuscan etc, but i'm not sure that i'd be willing to tie up £45k sat unused & waiting for parts. Its bad enough having a dead 20k motor sat in bits at a dealer while parts are delayed again & again.
Call Ben Samuelson & ask if they have any new cerbs at the factory, if they have, suggest they strip the slave off that to get you back on the road.
Darren.

Shame you hadn't called me earlier .. just fitted my stock slave cylinder on a car last week ...

fitted 5 clutches in the last month .. you just need the right supplier i guess and keep stuff on the shelf.

Seems my next stock cylinder might take a bit longer to come through by the sounds of it ...
