Pipe in front of oil pressure switch

Evening all,

Was just doing my oil pressure switch change tonight. On lifting out the coil packs, there is a braided hose that sits about 1" in front of the oil pressure switch with a 90' elbow and goes up into another elbow in front of the drivers side windscreen, what is this pipe for?

Its restricting my ability to get a socket onto it to undo the pressure switch, anyone had this problem?

Thanks Andy, Its restricting the access to the switch to remove it as its going over it, easy to remove?

It seems really tight down there to get to, how do i get a socket on it as the metal pipe out of it has a 90' elbow preventing any socket from slipping over it?

crows foot spanner should do it

Easy Tiger! can you remember what size the nut is on the pipe that goes into there? I can borrow a crow foot spanner from work?

not sure, I think it was 11mm.

Was 14mm, borrowed a crow foot spanner and got it off. The old oil pressure switch seems to be an odd size as i dont have a socket to fit it (new one is 22mm). I tried a 24mm deep socket and its small, so i think its either a 25mm or 1" nut, odd size, can anyone confirm this?

I'm replacing my oil pressure switch at the moment, the old switch doesn't seem to have anything connected to the thin terminal plate on top, is this normal?

I can't seem to find a "spare" cable to connect it too either way lol

Ignore me, its all done now. The wire must have came off when I removed the coil pack mounting plate.

Switch all changed pretty easily to be honest, good times!

hi all apology for making this thread up but i was having a problem. I've seen all the threads about the oil consumption on these cars, which I do not think I am dealing with, but I came across a thread on here that sounded more similar to mine. Pretty much my oil light is on and I am reading 0 pressure on my gauge at all times even when pressing the accelerator. Oil level is good! The culprit for that particular problem in that thread was the front pipe of oil pressure switch, but I am having trouble finding it. Can somebody please point me out to where this is located? also may i ask if the oil pressure switch and oil pressure sending unit is the same thing? apology for i am new one.
