clutch probs

hi all, just fitted a new clutch and slave got a lovely pedal but will not go in gear (dragging)
any ideas

If it's new (rather than relined) then the dimensions should be OK. Can you adjust the pedal to get more clearance?

Adjusting the master cylinder rod a little bit at a time should sort it. (on the back of the pedal)

May need to re-bleed the clutch through to clear any air bubbles and/or the bleed holes on the slave arent lined up?!

Who fitted the clutch and slave?

I have previously had this one suggested to me but when i looked at the setup you can onlt adjust the hight of the pedal from the floor but not how far the master piston rod will move as it's connected to a different point.

thanks for the feedback ,think i may have found the problem wrapped up in the box was a small bag with three star washers that ive not fitted (i have to say ive never fitted a twin plate clutch before) will that cause it to drag ,the pedal is perfect but just wont go in gear with the engine running

Skidoo, I don't think that leaving the star washers out will cause the clutch to drag - it'll just make it rattle.

Apparently the star washer arent just to stop rattling but also to ensure the plate closest the flywheel disengages and doesnt drag causing the issue you have. Would explain the premature wear on my old clutch which had no star washers.

i fitted the clutch ive bled clutch 6/7 times with a vacuum bleader the guy at racing green said my problem was the star washers and he is probely right but i cant get my head round the fact that when the clutch is disengaged there will be no clampping force on the friction plates unless the slave is too far from the clutch fingers and dont release the diaphragm enough does anyone know what kind of clearence i should be looking for ?

took the clutch back out fitted the little star washers refitted all fine now

Is it just a matter of putting the star washers into the grooves in the plate and putting the posts back through? Will they find their correct location on fitting to the flywheel (when the butterfly's are compressed) or do they need to be in a specific location?
