Have I been overcharged ???

Good evening all,

Just wanted your thoughts on the following work I am having done and the costs:

Full rub down of chassis and treatment for anti rust (2 days work)
Oil change and filter
Front disks removed, skimmed
Handbrake drum hubs removed and cleaned up
Brake fluid change
Tappets checked and gapped
Prop and exhausts dropped to change handbrake cables (supplied)
Front pads changed

Price = around £2000 (reckons it includes 3-4 labour)

Almost 3 days of labour could be getting on for £1500 incl VAT ? You then have parts on top. So I can see how that could nudge to £2K.

Tappets alone is several hours, cams have come out and bee re shimed, 2 days chassis refurb has sureley got to be the thick end of a grand in labour, then you say only 3-4 hours labour charged?

I guess in hindsight, its not bad. They reckon they got to the chassis just in time!

25 hours labour must equate to approx £1,400 plus VAT, plus parts????

Simon Jobs like the Chassis are jobs you could do yourself and would have saved you a fair bit of cash as are changing the front pads and getting the disks of and skimmed would also have saved you money. It all depends if you have the time to do it as these are not difficult jobs to do and you get plenty of advice on here if you get stuck.

Agreed with above, from that list i`d only be wanting the tappets done. Everything else i`d do at home taking my merry time in the garage.

Depends how much time you have on your hands, and how you value your own time.
