When you press the three buttons on the steering wheel to go into diagnostic mode, does anyone have problems with the indicators showing you where the steering wheel is?

Oh, sorry you press the two left hand buttons on the steering wheel and the right top button, all at the same time.

Both indicators should appear constantly.

if you then move the steering wheel past the indicator cancel on either side the corresponding light should go out.

Used for resetting the indicator cancel sensors.

Sounds more like a special move on a playstation

Does it unleash a ball of fire from the back at the same time?

Wow, do any hidden Easter Eggs appear too?

An extra 20bhp or a pop up life time clutch guarantee??

Seriously, interesting stuff which I didn't know, thanks.

On the subject of indicators, I wonder if any of you can help with this???

As mentioned on a prev post, my left indicator works fine but when I indicate right, the flasher relay in the boot just buzzes. I at first suspected the right hand indicator relay behind the indicator stalk but this is not the problem.

Strangley, If I quickly indicate right then left it works fine!

Im now thinking that this may be something to do with a control module for the indicators but I have no idea where this may be. I have looked for it in the boot under the carpet flap but no sign.

Does anyone know where the indicator control box is????

Sorry Julian, was a bit rude of me!! Im just desperate to fix this dam problem

Whats your problem?, Im guessing this relates to the optical indicator cancel board under the wheel?????

Only joking, I can't see to get the right side cancelling although most of the circuit seems okay and the sensor LED's work. Clue might be that in setup mode my right indicator never seems to come on.

The diodes used presumably emmit invisible light pulses (IR) and Im guessing that there is a pair of them, one for left and one for right.
I wonder if one of them may not be working at all.
A good way of visualy checking this is to use something like a digital camera. Point the camera at the diode when it should be operational and look at the view screen, as camera lenses are sensitive to IR, you will see a bright white light on the viewfinder, if its broke you wont!

Does this board control anything else or is it just the cancel function of the indicators?

It uses a slotted sensor and a slotted wheel very similar to that used in an mouse. The sensor generates its own light source and these are notoriously difficult to check because there is no space to get an alternative light source in place.

Fascinating Julian, didn't know anything about this, so once in diagnostic, how do you reset the cancel points? I have to virtually do a Uturn before mine cancel, is it a case of pressing a button/indicator stalk where you want the point to be?

Nope, youre thinking of a BMW. Gotta think more tractor and you'll be closer to the mark.

Theres a collar on the shaft holding the two plates which cut the beam. Simply release, move the collar until its in the right place, aided by the indicator lights which allow you to see where the indicators would have cancelled if they had been on, and retighten.

Pressing the stop button cancels the indicator setup mode.

Thanks Jules, So which bit do I hit with the lump hammer and do you think a 4 foot extension bar will do on the ratchet for the nuts? (God I love working on tractors!!) lol
