Hi,

Wondering if anyone had ever gone back to the std 16" wheels for road use, after having had 18" spiders?

I'm thinking of keeping the 18" for pose & track use, and using the standards for normal day to day stuff.

Plus - has anyoned noticed a difference in ride height? I need as much as I can get due to some evil local speed bumps.

Cheers!

Not heard of anyone going the other way so to speak but if you want to exchange your spiders for some freshly refurbed 17" 4.5 alloys, let me know!

Yes - I did.

18" to standard 16" to 16" spiders. Current owner is going other way (ooh eer!).

Found the 16" more compliant for my style of driving especially when fitted with Speed 6 profile rubber, turning circle was still crap though. If I had kept the car next step would have been Nitrons, and then I would have been happy!

Why dont you do a swop with _DJ_ and see?

Cheers,
Michael

Is your driving style smooth swift touring on A roads with passengers as opposed to nutter B road blats? I suspect I will go back to the 16" - but I'll keep the 18" spiders for trackdays. Sorry to disappoint after the offers to swap. I'll be greedy and keep both.

Any comments on the ride height? This is for a Sp6 too.

Yep, also used the car alot for motorway commuting and family weekends. Less tramlining and complaining from partner, on 16" spiders and S6 rubber.

Only downside seemed to be I caught the bottom a lot more on speedbumps & ferries coming back from Le Mans!

Would look into the Nitron route too (unless you've already got them!).

Cheers,
Michael

Michael,

Forgot to mention, Nitrons are on the shopping list (which should sort out the ride) as is the ECU upgrade if it delivers the benefits that are anticipated!

Darren.

Can you raise the ride height with Nitrons then?

(Nitrons + 18" = max ride height?)
