Oil leak

After fixing the fuel leak (new fuel pipes fitted, now that was fun.....), I have managed to track down the oil leak I have.

Its coming from in-between the gear box and engine, does this point to the rear crank seal? Is keeping an eye on the oil level (and topping it up) an acceptable solution until I need a new clutch and getting it replaced at the same time sound viable?

It's not leaking too much and I can't see that it could be repalced without the engine coming out!

Are you sure it's oil and not brake fluid coming from the slave?

If it is the rear main seal, just need to make sure it doesnt get worse and contaminate the flywheel and clutch.

Could be coming from the oil pressure switch between the V at the back, mine leaks a tiny bit and it drips down between the gearbox and engine. Not a worry if it small leak really.

mine was leaking from around where the dip stick goes into the sump!

Thanks chaps, I'll have a look at the oil pressure switch to see if its that, is it below the starter motor and near the 100Amp fuse?

Its definitely engine oil (gearbox oil has a very definite smell!) and its not break fluid either, levels are fine.

Another day under the Cerb, yay!

Another place worth looking, as mine leaked there, is the inner corner of the rocker cover. The oil was running down the back of the block. Hard to detect from above. Mine was drivers side, a bolt had been threaded in the past so was not tightening up any more.

Thanks again guys, I started her up whilst still on the railway sleepers so I could have a look under whilst running.

A small amount of oil leaks out whilst ticking over from cold which is not the best I'll check all of the areas you have mentioned next weekend I think, probably fit a new pressure switch at the same time to be sure.
