Is it possible that if I had an 'accident' with the current front windscreen (which has a crack in it), I could get a replacement with the uprated heating element?

Purely guessing, but the windscreen fitter is going to ask heated, or none heated, lets say you say 'heated' he comes and trys to fit it and he sees no cable going to the old screen and therefore no plug to plug the new one into

See whats needed to 'prepare' it for the heated screen. Also, you might have to give the windscreen fitter a back hander, for him to agree to it.

Think a crisp £20 note should do the trick

My experience of the heated Cerbera screen is they don't work for long. You have to co-hearse the screen in; it's bonded to the body, the body flexs the glass when driving etc etc. And sooner or later one of those little elements snaps and it don't work no more.....
