Loads of oil

Hi all,checked my oil a week ago and it was half way between hi/low,so added 1/2 litre of liquid gold(Mobil 1) just dipped it again and its about 50mm above High!! All other fluids are unchanged. Either I've cocked up the first dip(did it twice) or god knows what. I've been told by friends to drain and refill with new but its only done 300 miles on this batch,oil pressure is pretty much unchanged, will it do any damage??

Leave it on flat ground over night and check it again, they can be a pain to get a proper reading from. If its still 50mm ( 2 inches ) above max then I would drain a bit off.

Dipstick tubes are renowned for sucking oil up the tube due to the rubber bung at the top (First generation MINIs also suffer from this issue then the filler cap is left on).

Take the stick out, wipe it clean, wait ten minutes and re-dip, you should get a better reading. IF overfull drain some out as being overfull isn't good.
