I'd go for a 2001 that'd done the serious part of the depreciating, and had any niggles & bit's that're going to go wrong sorted out. Having the extra BHP *now* would be nice, but if I was just getting my first one, I wouldn't care as much.
However, that RR looks quite overpriced, and I wouldn't get a car that'd done less than 5000-6000 miles per year...
I would never profess to knowing a lot about cerbs but would certainly go for the Red Rose, people often have a hankering for a little more power after owning their car for a while regardless of how fast it is (and let's face it they are both staggeringly quick), but the Red Rose should keep you satisfied for longer.
But I would insist on a full service to be thrown in with special attention paid to any of the niggles that can raise their heads through lack of use.

I'd the RR dyno'ed and if it really made anything close to 440 BHP I'd have it!!!!!!!!
Well, the 4.5 is quoted at 420bhp. The RR will have >= 20bhp than the 4.5. As has been said many times before, plant the throttle then tell me you need more power!

Having been fortunate enough to own a 4.2 a 4.5 and a 4.5RR I'd say RR for sure. If it makes 450bhp though I'll eat my hat! I think it's safe to say that on average a 4.5RR will make at least 40bhp more than a 4.5 or a 4.2. Also the RR has a good lot more torque through 4-7K rpm. I think my RR makes 70bhp and 80lb/ft peak more than the 4.5 I had previously. Beyond that throttle response is loads better too. In fact it just feels better in pretty much every way.
Whatever you get start saving for Nitrons!!

i'd love to be in a position to get either but alas the arival of my baby daughter 2 weeks ago combined with my leatest business venture has put a (hopefully for not too long) hold on a cerbera purchase.
I have been following the forum for a few months now and have decided i'm definately getting a cerb. hopefully when the time come I can rely on some of you veterans out there to give me a hand in deciding cos to be honest it does look like its not something you want to do lightly.
Cheers
