Emerald the ECU people have a plug'n'play ecu for the TVR's now.

Interesting, given the other thread currently running on this.

Emerald's data seems to prove a very substantial improvement. See for yourself

The software is very, very friendly.
I have an Emerald on my Caterham, and the biggest improvement is the smoothness in the power delivery.

A lot of my friends own TVR's and moan about how bad the power delivery is for driving in the wet. I think the Emerald would help.

Like buses these things - no options for ages then 2 come along at once! It'll be interesting to make a comparison! I feel sorry for the people who have invested a lot of time and effort in this as they may now only get 1/2 the revenue that they might have done. Having said that, competition is always good for the consumer!

Darren.

edited to add: must get those typing lessons sorted - I'm too slow!!!

I would say the advantage of the Emerald is being able to access the ecu yourself - perfect cold start etc.

Advantage of Joospeed conversion is that it would be undetectable even to the dealers, and I think he mentioned some airflow mods as well.

ridds,

If you click on the link, don't you see a page about a Cerbera Red Rose?
That is the info, at the bottom of the page are prices on the kit.

I don't know anymore info than is on the Emerald website, as i just came across this, while i was browsing.

yup, spent some time on the phone to dave and karl at emerald, they have a great system there, with the option of traction control in the future .. i'm hoping to be able to offer that system with traction control at less than the racing green traction control only system .. real value for money seeing as you get power increase aswell! should make the cars stuuning in real-world conditions.

edited to add .. this was on the best cerbie we've ever seen, on the std road cars which are much worse on the mapping the gains should be proportionately even better

Indie TVR tuning has never looked rosier

Joolz,

How did your RR results compare to theirs. I thought the article in Sprint mentioned far more than 388bhp (or whatever the web site said). Unless that's power at the wheels!

Would certainly be interested in an upgrade that included TCS, for those "when the wife is driving" moments

Any idea of a ballpark price? The RL TCS seems ludicrously expensive, as you need to buy wheel sensors as well. Actually, as some F1 teams found when the sensors were banned, it's possible to do some sort of TCS from the ECU...

You still need wheel sensors if you want good traction control.

dave's rollers are lower than the noble rollers i use, but the noble rollers are to withing 1% of powerstation in cheltenham, not surprising as they use teh same rolling road with the storm eng. software package. Noble cars use the john noble rollers too .. however it's the gain that's important, would be nice to have julian rowntree's car back on the noble rollers for a back-to-back comparison (however as he hasn't contacted / returned any of my calls and mail it's difficult to see how that would happen now!!), but a gain is a gain however you measure, it can only make the car go faster

...result!! *yay*

Joolz - you can use my 4.5RR as a comparison if you like. I'd like to do a power run now its got 6000miles on it anyway and was thinking of Nobles rolling road. If you remeber our telephone conversations you'll know it should be a good 'un!

Doh - I've just read the article and realise how daft my suggestiong was. Sorry Joolz.

Still reckon I'm going to Nobles for a power run. I'd be interested if any further mapping could be done.

Emerald Site said:

I managed to lose all the crackles and pops

Pah! I won't be having that upgrade, then!
I do like the idea of having a permanently wired-up laptop in my car, though, Fast & Furious style...
