I'm sure I've seen a thread about this before but just can't quite find it!

Passenger window doesn't go fully up once door is closed - will go up if you press the button inside or alarm it - so sounds like a dodgy sensor - can it be fixed or should I get a new one

It'll be the switch that detects the door is closed I'd suspect - give it a clean. Do the interior lights go off when you close the door?

Sounds like the power window chip in the boot above the fuel tank. Had the same problem when i bought mine, Joolz fitted a new one before I picked it up. Apparently it's a 5 min job and only a couple of quid.

Open the door and look along the bottom of it. There is a little metal contact pin sticking out. When you close the door it contacts with the other metal disc on the sill and puts the window up.

Mine went recently. I replaced the connectors and hey presto, fixed.
Undo the screws and work it out till you get to the connector, check none are broken or intermittant. My window would go up a little but not all the way but when I was driving would contact again and put the window up the rest of the way (or down).

Also, when you set the alarm it may not lock the doors.

Doesn't take long to fix.

Thanks Andy - spotted it - no metal disc on the sill mind you - just a mark on the paintwork - same on drivers side which works ok though - will go and have a fiddle

I had the same problem on the drivers door, a little experiment should prove what is at fault.

Open and shut the door a few times but don't lock the car.....each time you close the door, note where the window stops.

If it stops a bit lower each time, then the fault lies with the reed switch, which is in the top part of the door.

The little arm which touches the glass is either missing, or needs adjusting.

Thanks crazycats - tried what Andy suggested but no joy. I think it knows the door is closed because it does go up a bit but just not all the way. I recall it doesn't always stop at the same place so your diagnosis could be right.

Sorry to hijack this thread!

Paul, do you know where I can get a replacement reed switch from? The little metal arm is missing from the one on my passenger door.

Cheers,

jo

Got one from TMS - 01664 481065, speak to Ivan.

New switches have plastic arms on them, which keep falling off, another job to sort
