Unfortunately I am currently selling my Cerb. I have used it for the last three years to travel from Kent to Portmouth each fortnight to collect and take back my children. My youngest is now quite a tall eleven year old and even though she can fit in the back it is a bit small for an hour and half journey! I will miss it terribly, it certainly made my 3 hour round trips enjoyable!

Anyway, I posted the car on PH classifieds at, what I think is, a very good price and am surprised at the lack of initial interest! The car is in excellent condition, including the chassis and the interior. The car has always been kept in a warm garage and lives on ramps (as shown below) to enable me to keep a close eye on all of the undercarriage. It has been super reliable while I have had it, it is true what they say about regular use and the miles I have done have been mainly on the motorway. The engine has good oil pressure, which has stayed the same throughout my ownership. The car has always had what it has needed, which probably explains why it has been so reliable.

So, in your opinions; is my ad not hyped up enough, is my price too high or are there just no buyers at the moment? It's just now that I have come to terms with the fact that I can't keep it, I am reluctant to use it in the interim.

Only a few comments on the ad - the servicing isnt made clear enough, doesnt read like fsh / reads DIY. The wheels - everyone wants 18inchs.
Take a look at other ads for inspiration?

Yes, I see your point, thanks for the input. The book has service stamps up to 20k miles, since then it has been a mixture of servicing at home (all documented and receipts to prove) and anything too technical (tappets, geometry etc) has been done at Walldonway or Taylor TVR (again receipts to prove).

Oil changes, spark plugs, air filter cleaning and any basic upkeep is very straightforward, so I have enjoyed being able to do those myself. The clutch was changed with Madmark's guide, again it might sound daunting but is easy enough if you are methodical and have the tools.

I know the spiders can make the Cerb look more purposeful, but I kept the standard ones to give it more GT ability. A bit more 'comfort' for the journeys I was doing.

May be you British people do not know what a good car must look like.
I like your car because it looks great and indeed it seems to be in very good condition. In Germany you would easily sell your car for this price. I bought a 4.5 from 1999 some month ago for 14,000 Pounds and that was a very good price. (for me - the buyer)

P.S.: By the way I found some postings here from the pre-owner of my Cerb. So let me say: HELLO!! Your purple Cerb has found a good new home in Germany! It is the Cerb which have had a "V8" stick at the back.

I think I have the same problem. Sometimes I think pistonheads is not the best place to advertise your cerb. The calls I have had were from extremely finicky people, sometimes its a bit annoying. Im not desperate to sell, I just need the money for something else!

Blasted it on autotrader as well now. See what happens I guess? I think your advert is fine, and if I was looking for one Id be calling you.

Nothing wrong with that or price I'd ring you to discuss and probably come and kick the tyres if I was in the market. I can only guess the market must be slow at the moment

It certainly makes working on a car as low as the Cerb easy to work on, it's good to change the brake pads standing up!

I must be unusual then. Personally I think the tyre to rubber size looks right with 17" wheels

Must just be the time of year. Looks a well sorted car at a cheap price to me.

Edit: Actually I've converted a couple of people at work to TVR's. One's just bought a Tuscan from Str8six, the other is looking for a tuscan, but I may just take my car in and convert him to the dark side and point him at your ad

How did you find them?

Just read the website and they look like a good idea.

Did you have to get the extra 4 foot ramps, and did you have any problems with ground clearence?

I think I saw them in a classic car magazine, I considered a pit, but these could come with me if we moved house. I bought them as soon as I got the Cerb as usual ramps were too steep and I didn't like the idea of jacking it up under the outriggers, worried about flexing the body.

Just the standard kit is fine for the Cerb, it starts with a very gentle slope. The lengths that hook onto the ramps when it is tilted are standing underneath in the picture. They are very solid and I can always use them outside if the weather is nice!

Thanks for all the great positive feedback everyone (thanks J ), I have withdrawn the old ad and have submitted a new one. Hopefully this should be emphasising the important bits!! I've really appreciated everyone's comments, wise words and support.

I think so. I did not buy the Cerb in GB. Someone else from Germany bought it in GB and sold it with a better prize in Germany. Okay, so far. So I spend the time for search, check and import. But you are right, the wheels were noticeable because they were not original ones. I only changed them to take the technical provement and let restore and chrom them after that. It look really really great! Sure, it is a question of taste and I never saw another Cerb with chromed wheels but I really like them.

Not at the moment but later in this week. A storm let crash a tree and it damaged my car. It's in the garage now.
