Went out to soften up the rear suspension this lunchtime and found only one of the adjusters now "clicks" - how weird - any ideas?

I'm stuck without the clicks as I do three clicks up for the track, and three down for the road.

bounce the car up and down, you sometimes find that dampers with concentric adjusting knobs operating a central rod adjuster inside the piston rod do this when the valve becomes slightly syuck in one position, slacken it off a half turn at a time and keep bouncing the car, thsi shoud free it off without the rod becoming dislodged .. if it doesn't work then they may have to be sent back for rebuild.

Cheers Julian - I'll try it.

Something else I've noticed - when the dampers are cold and I drive over a speedbump (I live in S London - speedbump central) it feels as if the suspension almost bottoms out, and I get a real clunk, almost as if something is loose. When the shocks warm up, it goes away somewhat.

Any ideas? They are set to fairly hard at the front.

I happily adjusted my Nitrons for the first time yesterday, but had a thought...

Stupid question I know, but is it anti-clockwise looking down from the top or looking up from the bottom to soften them up? I only did a couple of clicks yesterday and driving it today I couldn't remember what it was like before I think it was softer, but the M1 in rush hour isn't the best place to try out the handling.

er, it's marked on the adjuster! .. but in case you're worried it might be marked incorrectly, turn clockwise to stiffen if you're looking from the end of the damper that the adjuster is closet to.

cheers Joolz

my fingers don't have eyes and laying on the floor of the garage is not the best way of seeing the adjusters...
