replacing induction hoses on 4.5rr

Ok, so fingers crossed I will be flying in on the weekend to hopefuly take the cerbera back home to France - now that things have taken a better turn!

The purple silicone hoses are looking somewhat tired. With it being a red rose are there issues with an induction kit - anyine else done this - or would you stick to the standard hoses and just replace them - if so where can I locate them.

ACT do replacements for the standard long hoses now, so you have a choice of those or the standard items. My factory originals were quite thin walled and the wire reinforcing was spaced pretty far apart, when compared to the hoses that replaced them from ACT. After that you're into the short induction kits. If you fit one it would be wise to check the car on a dyno afterwards to check the RR map is safe for this setup, even if not optimal.

Its really worth paying the extra for a short induction kit and a proper re-map.

I have a red rose. Pre some head work it was 415 ish bhp. We expect it to be north of that now.
Thats without a remap. Personally I cant see myself going for a remap as 420 is enough for me, the driveability of my car is excellent, I like original etc...
I managed to get a set of pretty much new purple hoses from the lovely Farmyardpants as he had replaced his with short induction.

That looks loverly Looks great with black airboxes instead of the carbon(effect). Also, this may be a silly question but I've not seen that high level F2 panel before, Is it a RR feature?

The carbon effect is for pre lightweight (ish).
The higher up panel is a lightweight/post 2000 'feature'.

Got to say Joo's remap of my 4.2 is brilliant. Not a huge noticable increase in power (although with the new manifolds I'm touching nearly 380bhp now), but Joo brought the torque curve down from the initial peak at 3k revs to 2K revs. It's so easy to drive now.

Indeed Thanks to Paul at Austec and Tim at ACT - helping out ina tight spot.
Had a great hoon from Santander back to home. A Sag was on the crosing with some other exotica. I was told that the Sag was fitted with a V8 which is running 515bhp at the mo and 750bhp is forseen.

Well done - an Austec remap and short induction I presume?
Not sure how comparable their rolling road is but am sure your car feels great.
The Sag is the talk of the town with its LSn engine.

yes indeed - the car is otherwise stock- but night and day difference bottom end - and so nice to be able to keep it now.
the Sag with a V8 is very interesting - one for the future - when my boys grow out of the back seats on the cerb.
