Major running issues, pulling my hair out??
Discussion
hi guys,
im working on 96 cerbra, the loom plug under the expansion tank had corroded so my friend replaced the plug with two other plugs, which are in a slightly bigger cable size, so should be fine, we replaced the cable to crank sensor with a new cable straight to the ecu and to the sensor with the same spec shielded cable, we started it and it was still running rough so we metered the cables and using the excel wiring diagram i found on here.
After metering cables from ecu plug to sensor/injector etc we found that two cable had been swapped around by mistake but also that according to the diagram we had pins 1 and 3 around the wrong way on the tps's so we corrected it and the car still wouldn't run correctly, so i then metered every cable and realised that the common cable to the air sensor water sensor and tps's meant that i had the cables correct the first time and the diagram was wrong, we managed to find a second diagram proving this theory was correct, i metered every cable back to the ecu but still it runs bad, i have checked all the grounds and all the voltages to the coiled etc and everything is fine, it running very very rich and sounds like a bad misfire but due to how the engine is i think this could just be it struggling to run with so much fuel,
i have now replaced the tps's. i was thinking it could be a water temp sensor reading very very low or a cranksensor misreading,
i then hooked up my laptop and watched the readings and every few seconds it looks like the ecu resets and and everything spikes and then goes back to normal, also the throttle always reader 12 odd % and never over 80%
Have i ruined the ecu?
also the immobiliser has been bypassed and it appears the ecu is constantly powered is this normal?
any help and advice would be great ta!

Im no expert, but if i was you i would put the suspect ECU into another cerb and see how it runs, then you could eliminate it or not as the case may be.
i would nt go down the road of putting another good ECU in the cerb your having trouble with, in case theres still a problem with the wireing and it frys it.
