Hand on heart Don (and fearing for the wrath of JensenA, when he reads this 
) I think £18+ would be very ambitious for a '98. IMO the only 2 major things that might work in favour to get that sort of money for a '98 car, are it having had a recent & documented chassis out refurb to zero age it and/or engine rebuild again to zero age that, better still with a warranty - appreciate your car probably needs neither but a buyer buying and looking to justify paying top end for the year, would like to see one of those I expect. A quick look in the classifieds seems to show a 98 sold at the money (or at least was up for that money) but had a galv chassis which is probably what justified it to the buyer. Might be worth getting the front touched up if it is bad as well, people will more than likely mark it down in their heads on this more than the cost of actually doing it. Lots are remember, swayed by shiny shiny pretty.

We have to be realistic and remember that they are very much a niche car with a very low demand. If you are not desperate to sell, then just place an add for that price and see what happens, you never know. The easy solution is don't sell it, keep it sweet and one day they will be worth good money.
That was mine that sold recently with the galv chassis, I put it on for £18,250 thinking if I get no interest I'll just have to keep it!!! and the wife will have to wait for her Elise and new windows etc....
But typical when you're not bothered / sure about selling somthing it was gone within a week!

Having spent a fortune (note I didn't use the word small) on mine of late (making good the ills of previous garages and a manufacturing prob that was quite well hidden) I won't be talking down prices!
A well sorted car has GOT to be worth a premium. So the right upgrades and the right condition engine and chassis should really command a premium. 18k for a 98 4.5 and it would need to be fantastic. If it is go for it. I would want well into the 20's for mine. Everything is either new or rebuilt.

Price sounds fair to me if it was a more 'sensible' colour and wasn't stone-chipped.
Mine's a 98 and having had an upgrade or two done since I got it I was thinking the other day it's gotta be worth around £18k now.

I’ve always valued the car at £18k in my head (lots of other silly things go on in there as well), but as others have mentioned I saw the ’98 at £18,250 as well and it stuck in my mind.
I know mine hasn’t had an engine rebuild, as it isn’t necessary, or a chassis refurb, as Andy said it was in tip-top condition – but if I had a couple of hours spare to actually list in an ad what I’ve done to the car – well APM has – I think it would be clear to a potential buyer that the car had a ‘cheque book owner’ ie: if it needs doing, it gets done, immediately and always.
I just wasn’t sure if that was enough to command the higher values, even though I feel it is because I’ve been the one signing all those cheques over the years

Do you think the prices are to low? I was also thinking of selling up, had it 2 years, 4.5 2001 with an upgrade, low 30K miles. From the classified's on here, looks like i'd get a fair bit more than paid for it, or are people generally getting knocked down a lot
