Car ready for the ring again.

Off to the ring Friday to watch this thing hoon round do some laps of the Nordschleife myself and hopefully even get on the GP circuit too.



Recently fitted linked decats, new oil thermostat and temperature gauge as well as replaced all of the hoses (except the one from the engine as Think Auto cocked it up). Recently rebalanced the throttles and pots due to changing another rod end.

Will be interesting to see how she goes this year, I've cut the arches out properly so I'll have no problems with rubbing round the carousel, running 450 lb springs on the back 100 up from the previous year and also have the bump steer mod on so we'll see how she handles the rougher roads too.

Really looking forward to it as last year was a wash out and bloody lethal on tyres that had only driven to the track.

New dial, and lit up dash. Broke the indicator microswitch getting the cowl off but have managed to repair it.



Oil Stat and new hoses, hoses were £92 all in, including the new filter head.

is that an electric steering pump that i see, how does it compare to the standed setup? hope all goes well at the track, porsche have just set a new record 7 min 18 sec, make us proud and show them who's boss

It's ok. Certainly a get out rather than a proper fix tbh. It's a little heavier and not as instant as the engine driven arrangement. Although I suspect I may have a dodgy pump as others do not experience the same issues.

I don't think there's any danger of me getting near that time....

Nice oil stat setup. Well, lovely car in general! lol Did you get the hoses from Pirtek? Do you mind me asking how much it was just for the hoses as I've got to get some news one made so I can fit the oil stat too.

Got them from Think Automotive just off the M3 in West London.

I'll dig out the receipt and measure the lines so you could then order them and have them posted out.

Best of luck with the 'ring. I've only been the once, but it was quite a trip.

I take it from the pics that you run it without an "engine cover" between rad and engine? Is that deliberate? Has it made any difference?

lovely looking guage replacement, looks like it was fitted as standard. are those 18in rl's? if so what size tyres do you run?

No engine cover as I never got one with the car, I have a later one (that directs the air down rather than up) but it's blue and bust and haven't got round to sorting it out.

Tyres are 235/35-18 fronts and 265/40-18 rear. I think, will check. They needed a LOT of work to get to fit though.

I'd be interested to hear how you have got on with them and also, how much work was needed to get the 235's to clear on the front.
