Can anyone please help. I'm up for buying a cerbera, its just which one, 4.5 or 4.2, they both look the same but there is only a slight performance difference. I did own a Tuscan S for a while, it fell to bits, but when it ran the performance was just great.

the 4.2/4.5 debate has been raised many times (try a quick search)

I was in the same situation as you, and i finally plumped for the 4.5. Although slightly more expensive, the way i see it is they are the 'flagship' of the range with better brakes, slightly more powerful???, plus it carries the option of a Red Rose upgrade (im not sure if this can be done on a 4.2)

The 420 bhp the 4.5 states is way off the mark, and the cars vary quite a lot from car to car. On a 4.2, the 360 quoted is not far off (340/350 ish), and theres not a lot of difference between cars. You could go for a cheaper 4.2, and pay for upgrades such as Nitrons etc..or even the performance chip through joospeed.

The 4.5s have a better torque spread usually, but other than that, power-wise atleast, theres nothing in it.

4.5 =
+Better brakes/ residuals/ low down torque/option of Red Rose upgrade (400-428bhp REAL)
-accepting it doesnt have 420bhp
-paying the extra cash for it

4.2 =
+Better price/ value for money/ leaves cash for upgrades...
-More raw feel... can be a plus I guess, but you have come from a reasonably smooth running engine (when it ran atleast) it may not be what you want.
-No Red Rose option

Dont narrow down your search by engine size, find the car that feels best to you in the colour scheme you want. Unless you *REALLY* want to spend 4k on the RR conversion, in which case a 4.5 is the best bet. (IIRC someone on here had enquired about getting a 4.2 done?? not sure about that though..)

Buy a blue 4.5 as they are simply the best...

Unless you *really* want the RR conversion for silly acceleration, I'd suggest that the price differential go into handling upgrades, as any car that'll break traction in 3rd doesn't need the engine uprating as the first thing!

However, it's probably best to just drive all the models, and buy the individual car that makes you grin the most without ass-raping you on price.
