Here we go some images of the work i have been doing to the Cerbera...
A starting point...



Shot blasted...


Re-bushed...POR'd in silver then hamerrited...








Chassis scraped - dremeled - cleaned POR'd silver then White hammerite...





New purple hoses - manifolds - zip straps - stainless clips - lots of stainless fixings - thermostat - etc etc





Headers off welded - chassis rails sorted - heat sheild replaced - fuel lines tunnel heat sheild replaced etc...


Too much to list here...still ongoing...thought it might be of interest....

Thank you...we were working till gone midnight last night drilling out a bolt that had snapped in the ARB mounting arm on the passenger side rear...everything takes so much time...but hopefully be worth it in the long run...just want to get her back on the road...

No gave chasssis some real grief tho chissels hammers...tried hard to make a hole ...no point pianting over rubbish metal....it wasn't needed...outriggers are sound..dissapointed with emulsion quality powder coat tho...in many ways wish i had lifted the lid as ir has taken loads of time getting into the corners and stuff.

Had the body off my Chimaera three years ago...this was reasonably straightforward...but have been warned about lifting a cerbera body....it will happen one day this one is a keeper...

Putting loads of time in getting a base line - engine -suspension - chassis - cooling -electrics -brakes... then paint and interior...and start again!

Nice job Steve. Did you take the engine out whilst doing all this? I had no choice when I was doing mine, as the chassis rails next to the exhaust manifolds were beginning to rust.
Is the white paint POR15 hard nose paint?

Cheers Ged...no engine left in...had the headers off as they were starting to crack...made sense aas it allowed me access the top chassis rail where they run...I know this is a bad area for rust and holes...seen chimaeras and cerbers that are poor in this area...must be the heat exchange and be where the water runs..

No it isn't POR white ...not aware that they do it in white...so had to paint it all in solver por15...then change the colour to white which was the colour of the rubbish powder coating that the factory had done.

It isn't perfect by any means but is a load better than when I started...I will revisit it at some point ...

Good effort Steve! Some nice attention to detail! Loving the yellow wishbones!

The rocker covers look great too although they look more blue than purple, is that just the camera making them look blue? I am going to get mine done this winter.

What stainless bits did you use if you don't mind me asking?

edited to add... I see you have the same front suspension mounts as my old chassis had. I wonder if all early 4.5's had these?

The cam covers are a very deep purple...look brilliant IMHO...powder coated...in just the right shade...love it wait to see what I aim to do with the wheels...gonna be a two camps situ..

I have used stainless bolts and washers everywhere I could/can..bolts in the cam covers -all with anti seizure paste - water to engine manifolds - oil filler to block - not headers to engine tho...but all of exhaust system to chassis..rear heat sheild...plus wherever I can without compromising durability..

Still got loads to do...the brass y-piece for the heater joints arrived today...so will finish the expansion tank area in the morning..new heat shield and re placed all of the water /fuel pipe heatshield too..

Been prepping the Chimaera today for a 1200 mile trip to the north of Scotland WWM TVRCC Tiv'n'Ribs run starts next friday..all go...so will loose next weekend

Hi Ian,

Well yes ...but it mean't buying a pair from a 2000 car...but they are the six bolt type ...found four sets the same with the same "tvr" logo in a raised oblong format...mine were a different design tho...no one has seen them before...so I have three good calipers now...

Took the two new ones to AP Coventry last week had them pressure tested...they are fine do not even need new seals so a result....plus they came with a set of bells and discs...whcih I intend to replace with crossed drilled big fighters at some point...I am running cross drilled Tuscan "s" discs at the mo which are more or less new..and look nice.

So Ginny has been painting the new calipers .(she is a superstar.....she has even finished off painting the chassis underneath, and cut and sewed the passenger side heatshield and made sleeves for the fuel lines and water pipes around the bulkhead!!!)

The rear calipers are with AP Racing as we speak they are trying to free off three bleed nipples....looks like I will need at least one rear caliper too..hey ho at least I am putting stuff on now...

How are things coming along with yours?

Well got my cerbera MOT'd last weekend....suspension set-up plus some other snagging stuff at TVRPower Monday....three os us are getting our air-cons re-gassed today

Here are some pictures of the chassis coming together..the car is halcyion midas pearl with purple interior....hence I have tried to keep the purple theme going throughout the car..this will not be to everyones taste..hey ho

Battery area...alloy plate made for manky area...new heat sheild on inner wings -water pipes covered in new heatsheild...expansion tank bracket shot blasted and por'd the hammerited...brass y-piece fitted to water pipes...plus stuff I have forgot



Front suspension...

Now has Gaz por's - steve heath ARB bushes in purple..nice, new ball joints top and bottom, new track rod ends, plus other stuff..



and the other side..



Here is the back end same sort of treatment really..braided hoses, replaced handbrake shoes and mechanism, all bushes replaced with metalastic one's...oh yeah we made a couple of silly mistakes...fitted the brake calipers upside down for starters..and I fitted the anti squeel shims the wrong way round on the front calipers..doh! Put right now tho



And the engine bay...steering rack lifted and cleaned and painted, rad out sprayed areas black around it, new fixings, headers off - rewelded - enginee mounts off brackets cleaned blasted and cleaned up...purple silicone hoses - stainless water manifolds - temp gauge wire covered in silicone - (catcher tank to be fitted - some engineering going on with those...) polished oil filler cap - put the racing wire back on cam chain!!!!!!!!! this had been cut and left hanging and is a potential show stopper.
Cam covers powder coated purple - stainless capheads fitted - plus stuff...purple zip straps..


I am running with the F1 panel out ...looking for potential leaks...this goes in next weekend after super car sunday...will have covered a couple of hundred miles by then..

Cheers both...probably need to change the thread topic, as she passed the MOT a week Saturday back, and now all sorted..

Just a couple of things to do...adjust exhuast allingment but otherwise ready for our run to Cornwwall...we are taking at least five Cerbera's, four of which were off the road two weeks back...all MOT'd and on the road we all met up yesterday...look at the Wark and West forum on the TVRCC site..regional meet yesterday..
