TVR Cerbera AJP - Manifold Temperatures

Hi Guys,

I'm quit new to this but her we go.

OK my Cerbera had heat warp around the exhausts, which has now been removed to allow access to repair the manifolds. This job is now happily completed! BUT, and there is always a but, I have noticed that my passenger side manifold get considerably hotter that the drivers side. There is coolant in the rails etc (I will double check this tonight) but the heat warp on that side had been subject to far greater heats than the drivers side as the heat wrap was almost melted in places.........


Has anyone had a similar experience or could shed some light on this temperature difference. This heat difference is felt do the whole side of the exhaust so it is obviously the exhaust gases, though I maybe wrong.

Oh, I will hopefully look at the ECU tomorrow but as I have never adjust the potentiometer levers before could somebody shed some light as of to where and how you do this.

I have a photo, somewhere, of my manifolds glowing cherry red !

Cherry red! WOW!!! I take it the air boxes dont melt then... lol

I just found it strange that during idel the nearside manifold,downpipe got blood hot in comparison to the drivers side.. :-S

Has any adjusted the throttle petiometers or throttle pots before and if so could you guide me to them as the instructions do not identify their whereabouts...

They should never be red at idle. Sure sign of fuel and or ignition timing issuses, failed lambdas or a large air leak.

I wouldn't use it at all until you fix it.

Oh, sorry about the confusion they are not red, FEW!! just considerably hotter...... which is very strange. I will get my friends temp gun on it tonight and record the differences against time during idle.

I may just be a little cautious but its better to be safe than sorry.

I will check the lambdas. I would just like to know whereabouts on intakes/throttle bodies the adjustment screws and throttle petiometers are, or is this type of adjustment carried with the diagnostic software?

My bad! Read the wrong post as yours...

Saw a vid of a Speed 6 on you tube the other day of the manifolds glowing red at idle. It's not a good situation to be in.

The manual that I gave you a link to shows you where and how to adjust the throttle pots. You need a computer connected to your ECU running the diagnostic software to do this.

I really don't wish to sound patronising, but if you can't even locate the throttle pots on your engine then your might be well advised to take it to someone who knows what they are doing to adjust for you. It is plenty easy to mess it up.

The exhaust manifold used to glow cherry red on my t350t all the time. It was always a worry and it was never cured. Sold the bloody thing. Ahhh.

Well I shall be having a look today but the 1st thing I wil be doing is monitoring the temperature difference between each manifold. I may be morrying about nothing as I havent seen it glowing, though I have only let it run for a short period of time.
