Okay, Cerb passed through its last service with no problems, and I therefore have a need to upgrade.

Not heard from the dealer about the nitrons so I assume they can't get hold of them.

Do I go Austec/jools with an chip. Have them map my car and know that the result will be undetectable by insurance etc, Have a few more BHP and probably a lot smoother ride.

Or do I go emerald. Have them map my car, put my old ECU to one side and have a new one which lets me change maps at the press of a button, and also lets me play with the maps on the car (can't think of a good reason why I'd want to do that, but I would ), with the possiblty of future traction control as jools says.

Its tough having a cerb at the moment.

The 'smooth ride' seems appealing!

I am in a very similar situation. My Cerb has only broken down once in the last three years - the alternator fuse, a £1.95 part. Although I like the shape and drive of the Tuscan S I decided to upgrade the devil I know rather than change to the devil I don't.

In fact my car is with Joolz right now for Nitrons and decatting. When I called in on Tuesday I couldn't make my mind up, there is not quite enough real information around (performance charts, availability, prices etc) to make an informed decision. Although I could wait for while until the situation settles down I don't need the car at the moment and it is already in the right place...

OK, heads for Austec, tails for Emerald

Regarding the Nitrons: Have a word with Joolz, he may have some. If he has, have a run up up here and get em fitted. He'll also tell you what you want to know regarding the chip.

Kojak - my car is already with Joolz and in fact we met there on Tuesday. Mine was the shiny one which had just arrived from TVR Bodyshop.

Agree with the above - ask Joolz if he can get you a set of Nitrons, he's got our car at the moment and is fitting Nitrons to it. Getting it back tomorrow! We'll let you know if it's any good.

At which point I shall sneak in the following:

Happy Birthday Tam Lin! Hope you like the pressie, sorry I can't gift-wrap the Cerb suspension but as it's on the car now it'd take a lot of wrapping paper.

Oh, and while we're about it. Purple!! That's the colour.

Yes, the (sapphire blue) paint job and headlight conversion look great. I just need to finish moving house so I have somewhere to park !

The Nitrons are being fitted right now.

I really like blue! Particularly a really, really dark blue that's sort of black - yes, black.

Black! Black! You lock me in the cellar and feed me pins!

Andy -

With a following wind and the co-operation of the solicitors etc I should be moving house in about 4 weeks, so I'll get the car back then. There are a few pictures at http://directissima.com/photissima/categories.php?cat_id=7 which I grabbed at Joospeed.

Just to add to this, I'm in the exact same position... my car's booked in for Nitrons & de-cat with Joolz next Thu - another blue Cerb.

I was going to do the Austec/Emerald chip, and still will, but that can wait a couple of months till the weather's better & the tarmac's grippier. Plus the benefits of each will be known better, along with traction control possibilities, etc.
